Some say this is the toughest figth in the entire game - even the final fight is not as hard (mainly becuase you've grown in strength since then). Once you've nailed him, you can sort of relax, you've had the hardest nut of 'm all then.

I wouldn't say it was the hardest fight, not compared to Kangaxx the demilich. That nefarious skull handed my ass to me time and time again. ARGH!!! DIE DEMON SKULL!!!!! Sorry, needed to vent that Image.

I killed him pretty easily in chapter seven. Right before I was about to kill Irenicus in the elf city I left and ran around killing things.

BTW, where is Kangaxx? I never found him, hehe Image

Firkraag is a wuss, and so is Kangaxx.
All you have to do is find the right strategy to kill the suns of beaches.

Kangaxx is obvious, kill the Lich-form with traps, and get the Demi-Lich-form by standing your mage directly next to him with Spell Immunity: Abjuration. Then slash him to death with some summoned creatures (fighting doesn't require to stand directly next to your target, heh heh, and since the wimp has the worthless habit of always throwing his Imprisons at the nearest NPC, your mage will be totally unaffected, all you have to do is recast the Immunity once in a while).

Now for Firkraag. He can be put on ice without even being damaged. To do so, try this strategy: three words:
Wand, of, Cloudkill.
Get one, sell it and buy it again, so it will have 50 charges.
Stand your mage just out of the dragon's eye sight, then blast a couple of times with your wand in his directory. If you have aimed right, you'll see he gets damage. The only prblem is his Heal ability. Just throw enough charges so one of the clouds will become fatal (it took me 15 charges).
Aerie's most powerful vanquished: Firkraag. Yee-haw! And it was "cake"!

"Just gotta find the right spot."

Well if you're going to cheat and beat Firkraag like that... of course, I took him down in one hit with Quivering Palm, so who am I to talk? Image

an easy way would be first to surround him with summoned creatures and your fighters/

cast magic resistance to lower his magic resistance

dun bother talking to him, cast greater malison to turn him hostile

get ur summoned creatures to engage him
meanwhile hit him with every magic missle u got
this should be as much as possible
this should get him to badly injured or even near death

if u can melee him to death, go ahead, if not, use melf acid arrows, lightning, etc to finish him off.
Cone of cold is especially good

Don't use the cloudkill trick. As others have said before, it truly robs you of one of the best battles in the game. Do anything you can to lower his resistance and savings throws, make yourself as resistant to fire as possible, and spread out as much as you can. Be prepared to bite the bullet and take some hits and wing buffets with your fighters. Magic missile works well, since he will usually be resistant to many of your spells, but a couple of the missiles ought to get through to him and disrupt spells. Most of this is covered in the strategy guide, though.
