Executioner: so what is your last request?
Prisoner: just a clean death, so could you test the axe on my bonds
Executioner: Hmmm, all right.

I play online at persistant world, and its awesome. The multiplayer, some of the downloadable modules, the DM client, and the toolset are all great.

The single player campaign that comes with it though is incredably boring. I haven't bothered to finish it. Its a bit of a disappointment, considering Bioware's usual great job.

What are some of your other options for games? Have you tried Planescape: Torment?

Neverwinter Nights uses 3rd edition rules, yes. Quiet different from the BG2 rules...

Planescape: Torment is a game where you play an immortal human with amnesia. It is by far the best D&D RPG out there...roleplaying wise.

I second all of Gaxx_Firkragg's points.

If you are looking for a single player rpg with a great story and enjoy the 2d view of baldurs gate - then get Planescape - best of all it can be had for under $10 at Wal-mart.

If you want to play a multiplayer game that simulates pen and paper D&D - Neverwinter Nights will fit the bill. Just don't expect the included single player game to be much fun except as basic training for the game features.
