In the first section of the underdark, before the Drow City, should'nt there be a mage who helps me dispose of the three elemental portals? I remember someone helping me with those the fisrt time I played, but now i cant find him. Plus i have forgotten what those portals are for, when i kill the elementals they just respawn. so what's up with them?

Appreciate your help

I can't remember correctly but I think there is a mage caught by the Imprisonment spell. You free him using the freedom spell but I can't remember if he is the same mage that gets you to help him retrieve magical items through the portals.

He is. You can buy a copy of the Freedom spell down there. If you're in the general area of the portals, he'll show up. Then you can make your deal with him.

Note that if you don't bring him back, you get unlimited attackers through at least one of the portals. Some people prefer the experience, although I find it mindnumbing after a while.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Fable is right. You can buy the Freedom spell from one of the three duegers (sp?) standing somewhere in the south east where you first came in. Don't have to memorise it though, just put in in one of the quick slots and fire away.
