Yeah I know, 8 int isn't alot but he's a ranger, so I didn't place intelligence high on the priority list.

Yes, but I 'd place intelligence as a priority for any character.

That's just me though.

That's just me though.
It depens, for rollplaying I do,
but for powergaming, when I play ranger, my primes are str, dex, con
And after that charisma (cheaper buy/sell)
After that wisdom (saves)
and then int.

That's fun in NeverWinterNights, when you're character has a lower int. then 9, he starts speaking like Yoda :D :D :D

It's hard choosing stats based on roleplaying in a CRPG, whether standalone or MMORPG, because you know your character's effectiveness is skewed drastically by the rules. I once tried to create a bard out of some large, dumb lizard race in the beta version of Dragonrealms, and was pretty annoyed to discover that he wasn't advancing at even half the rate in his skills as other bards. (They didn't use an experience-based leveling system, but a skills-based one.) No allowance is made for an individual member of a race or profession. Mind, I'm not whinging; I've long since gotten used to powergaming sufficiently to setup a proper character. It's just, well, an annoyance. :)

I've been away from the boards for a while, but it's still great to see people are still picking up the game. And Ainu, about your Enchanter, Xan is my fav single class NPC mage so I like your choice, but I probably would have rolled a few more times to get a few more points to distribute. The only spell I think you'll miss is Magic Missile and Fireball, but Skull Trap will fill that void. When I play with Xan in my party(if I have a priest to be casting my enchantment spells) I load him up with Burning Hands, Mirror Image, Melf's Acid Arrow, Skull Trap, and Flame Arrow. The last two are dependent on the situation. Good luck.

What would make a good wizard?
Also, is there a matchmaking service or something for multiplayer?

A good wizard.... for a good wizard I'd definately use a specialist of some sort. Probably a Conjurer or an Illusionist, but it's a matter of personal preference.

I mean what would be good stats

I personaly prefer the conjurer, with the opposition of Divination, which a good wizard could live without, but I was really looking for stuff like race, stats, etc. :)

My prime stats for wizards are usually Dex and Int. I usually try to keep Wis in the mid teens for RP purposes and saves, and depending on whether I want a frail old wizard or a heartier one I'll have Con between 8 and 16 respectively. How's that.

I like my wizards to be elves but if you're gonna be a conjurer I think you'll have to be human or half-elf.

Not to bumm you out or anything, but euhm, those are really really bad stats.

The only thing you can carry is your robe of archmagi and some jewels.

I know u r a newbie but if I where you, start over cause it's just a lot of fun to have an gnomish illusionist with a starting role of 87.

BTW there are some fun tomes that raise your stat's so mine has a base of 90

@Mister Popo: The strength issue is not as herd to overcome as you make it seem. An mage only ever has to carry his robe and a sling and then he's happy. The ring of wizardry is also helpful but not needed. The rest of the loot can Kivan and Khalid manage alone and if that is not anough you can call in Branwen or coran.....

In the game there are actaully 7 books that raise your stats, one fo each type plus two for wisdom if you have ToSC.

Yeah but hey, isn't it just way cool to have a character with way to go stat's
I mean, if I was a mage, I would be very happy with a strength of 18/50 or something. (currently my strength is at 9 exept the strength in my "mouse-muscles")

There are ways to get 25 in all stats, without really cheating......... It is really cheesy though to do it.......

And isn't not really cheating the same as, not really being pregnant?

well you have toplay through the game with the same char A LOT OF TIMES and eventually you wil have 25 in all stats........I have yet to see anyone go through with that though as it is soooo much easier to just cheat books into the game........ and that is how you do it....... quite simple really

Well it depends, importing characters is allowed, so you don't change some of the game possibility's.
It's the same as casting cloudkill from out of the enemy's line of sight,
it's allowed but it's realy cheesy.
