Disable movies on startup?

Anyone know of a way to disable the short movies (4 of them if I remember) that come up every time I startup BGII? I have seen them more often than I care to. It would be nice to jump right to the main menu (and yes I know that you can esc. each of them, but I still consider that a pain.)

They will play only if you start with CD2 in your drive!

If I don't have CD2 in the drive, I get a prompt to put it in- unless you know of a way around this as well.

Well,you could do this:

---put eihter CD3 or CD4 in the drive
---start BGII
---on the load game screen,load the game with which you want to continue
---if your cache is empty,you will be prompted to put the appropriate CD in the drive

You could also download a no-cd crack, of course u will need a full install then which means that u need to copy the short movies to ur hd as well, the u could always delete those movies and make some "fake" movies (files with the same name as the movies) that should help u to get around that problem. But I'm no expert to that matter, so don't complain if it won't work

I only know that it worked for me in other games I have.

Each movie is enabled or disabled in the baldur.ini file. Find the movie you want removed and set it to "0" or delete it altogether.

No, they are not disabled. My personal experience. When I set these movies to 0 in baldur.ini, the movies weren't disabled and they were reset back to 1 in baldur.ini.

got it, here's what worked:
-full install
-put cd3 in the drive
-remove the folder 'movies' from the cd2 directory residing in the game directory.

Startup in a fraction of the time. It looks like the in-game movies reside elswhere and are unaffected, but I am no expert so your milage my vary.

Surely pressing ESC a couple of times can't be that painful.....I think you're all maiking a big problem out of this one when you could just press ESC....
Either you must be really stubborn or you must pe playing BG2 hundreds of times each day...(if the latter case is true I would be able to understand you)

karembeu, actually now that I have done it- it is NOT just the difference of pressing escape a few times. My guess is that since you cannot press escape until the movie starts you are still stuck waiting for it to load. Now when I press 'play' there is a brief flicker as the screen resolution changes and then the main menu pops up immediately.
