Are druids fun??
With the right mod, yes. I always wanted to play as a druid of some kind, but always felt the kits weak. I downloaded a weimer mod that has shape shifter and druid balancing. I must say Cernd is now unstoppable. The new werewolf forms are as they should be ......really good. After all, a werewolf is one strong mofo in D&D. I haven't gotten to the point where he changes into the greater werewolf, but I cant wait. The werewolf form is very strong, but not unstoppable. I found it to be well balanced. However you can abuse the form because of changes in how often you can shape change. You now shape shift once, and a claw weapon is created for you in your inventory. When you equip the claw, you transform. Unequipped and you change back into human form. This could be abused, so it is up to the PC to police themselves. The only other thing that pushes it over the top is the ability to cast spells while in werewolf form. I found this something I don’t like and simply don't do it. Again, I just need to police myself a bit. The improvement to the spell summon animals 3 is a wee bit much. It now summons some were bears. These basically are werewolves. I found them a bit much so I used shadow keeper and toned them down. Now I like the spell. It gives me a different option rather then casting summon fire elemental with every spell from that level. The best part of the mod is the addition of some priest spells to the druid selection. Spells like zone of sweet air and sanctuary are added to the druid spell selection. This does nothing to unbalance druids and since only a couple of spells were added, it still maintains the distinct difference in the role that druids and clerics play in a party. However the extra few spells make druids a little more useful and versatile. Then only reason I bring this up is many people never try druids because of their shortcomings. If you are one of these people try this mod and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Just like Fable, I never leave home without a Druid.
Jaheria has always been my constant companion since BG1. I like stuff such as Insect Plague, Creeping Doom, Nature's Beauty, Staff of the Woodlands and the shapeshifting abilities.
There had been a Totemic vs Avenger Druid discussion/ debate some time back between Aqua Chan and Yshania (?) which makes for a very interesting read.
Anyway, I will be trying out Weimer's balancing mod for the kits. I am tempted now to find out if one could solo a Druid all the way to Ascension, after having failed with a few classes.

My latest game may change this, however. I'm seriously considering a party consisting of:
Verve (cavalier)
Minsc
Jan
Aerie
Kelsey
Tashia
Should be fun, a challenge, and something different.

Fable have you considered having kelsey and sola in the same group? The new kelsey version includes "awarness" between the two. My next game is going to have both of them to see how they interact with each other.
Interesting...well, I could always drop Minsc for Sola, when the opportunity arises. I was going to drop him in any case for Bin...er, Saverok.

I really wish some of the druid spells from IWD and IWD2 were included in the mod. That would have been even better then adding cleric spells or beefing up animal summoning 3. Druids are actually really fun in that series, given their spell selection. I still do not think a druid could solo ascension. Death spell would kill the were bears instantly I believe. However, I do not know if any of the big 5 are scripted to handle summons like that. At that point I only conjure things that are immune to death spell instant kill.

I believe the werebeares have been "toned" down a bit.
Dunno in what version that has been done though....
And about Druids and there spells:
I have The Darkest Day installed........and this gives some really cool new druid spells.
The game is starting too be fun again
(u know, different things and all
)
My next game will probably be with:
Archer
Jaheira
Minsc
Tashia
Imoen
Cernd (yes yes, some hate him, but I never tried him, soo this will be like taking a new road
)

Don't bad we can't tagteam parties in order to try out all dialog combinations. I could just see it, now:
"Oh, wait. Time out has been called by the challengers! As the Demogorgon fumes, Kelsey leaves the party, high-fiving Irenicus who stalks into line, his palms glowing."

Best of all you wouldn't have to worry about running out of spells.

Nah. Now, if it had been a 3000-word character piece: that would have taken some thought.
