Swashbuckler up to improved Abazigal battle is not too tough. That is when it gets very hard very quick. If you kill all the dragons (there are a ton) and save Abi for last it is doable.
The other really challenging battle is the end one. 1st 4 are a snap then the last one when Melisan summons Yaga Shura and company seems like a puzzle. There must be a specific order to killing things because Yaga seems invulnarable to phys damage.
Anyone figuired this out? Killed Sendai & Saverok, but cannot figuire out how to get Abi, Yaga, and Ilisara.... Melissan has not appeared yet. <gulp>.

Yaga Shura has 99% resistance against just about everything, except cold ("only" 50%).
The best way to kill him seems the clerical spell Harm, then just hit him once.
(Of course you should also reduce his MR first)
But you're soloing, so, unless you have a scroll of harm, you should focus on weapons
with multiple kinds of damage, each will inflict always 1 point.
That is, practically all the weapons inflict 1 damage per hit, but Dragon's Breath
or the Flail of Ages will inflict 4 or 5 per hit.
There are other things you should be aware of: Sendai is a cleric, and should be killed
first, to prevent her from healing the others..
Also Imprisonment is not a solution, they all can be freed.
EDIT: stupid me, I don't believe scrolls of harm exist in the game

If you think Ascension is hard, you may like to try Redemption. A friend from Watcher's Keep is revived to make the final battle *more* interesting.
There is a thread by Dorotea below on this subject.

Demogorgon fight note
You can avoid fighting him in Redemption if you can solve his logical puzzles. They are not that tough - exept for the final one! but a lot of fun, since I got them from a very good book of logic and Demogorgon is supposedly the smartest of Demon Princes ( despite his stupid appearance
