Allright here's the deal, I want to know your favorite race and why! My favorites are gnomes, dwarves, and halflings consecutivly. Gnomes because they can multiclass a mage and still specialize. I also like them because most of them are zany inventors and spellcasters (not just Jan read the 3rd edition dnd players handbook). I like dwarves cause most of them are grog chugging beserking psychopaths with a passion for orc killing. I like halflings cause they are short and good thieves with a sense of humor(read the sling dragonsbane story). I used to like elves and half elves in Bg1 but now I think that they're avatar in the inventory looks stupid.
I guess it's pretty obvious - Elves all the way!!! High dexterity means they're great with missile weapons, they get bonuses in Long Swords and Bows (my favourite choices) and they are just a cool roleplay - especially as an Archer.
Dwarves and gnomes...I love it when all those save or be out of action spells keep firing to no effect.
Also like the gnome fighter/illusionist, plan on taking one through TOB.

My vote goes to the (Half) Elfs too.As Elvenking already said, they're cool to roleplay, especially as Archers and BladeSingers (Fighter/Mages) but I like them as Thieves and Sorcerers too.
Humans. The only ones that can play Paladins and the only ones who can dual. I don't multi-class, and 19 DEX / CON doesn't count for me because I import my characters from BG1, which had featured those wonderful tomes and manuals that raised your stats permanently.
1) Gnomes - I mean, look at Quayle and Jan. Quayle is the coolest NPC ever and Jan comes a close second. Gnomes are small (and thereby different from the humans you meet in real life every day), have an enormous sense of humor, are naturally gifted in one of the best schools of magic and their avatars look so good (especially a wizard equipped with a Robe of Archmagi.
2) Half-elves - Great potential for a complex personality. Not quite human, not quite elven - where do they belong, how do they feel? Anger, frustration or happiness? Great choise of classes and kits.

Favourite race, eh? Has to be elves... why? Well, I like having high dexterity and I like looking at an elf on my screen (they look nicer than other races). Hey, I just like elves, even if you shouldn't really be able to be a full elf (after all, Bhaal wasn't an elf was he?). Come to think of it, you couldn't be a full dwarf, halfling or gnome. That's something to think about...
