Weapons of Mass Destruction

Post by Fairmaiden »

What's your favourite weapon?

Currently, mine is the war hammer - I'm using an Orcish one at the moment. I found a Daedric one but it was was very heavy.

I've found that nothing else I've used is more effective, as the war hammer knocks your opponent out in the first couple of blows.

I haven't seen any enchanted ones, though.

Let me just say - you're gonna be over the moon towards the end of the main quest :D

My preference is swords - well, not just any swords, I'm talking Goldbrand/Eltonbrand and a Jinkblade. Crowd control with the paralyse, then finish 'em off with the enormous damage, and that's all with a shield for blocking... ;)

Go do Imperial Cult Oracle quests, you'll come by one, probably the best. You can enchant some of your own. I prefer home-enchanted, in-game originals are either not powerfull and sophisticate enough or too special.

A Deadric war hammer is the most devestating weapon I think, with something like 80 maximum damage. Also, it is one of the heaviest. If you want to use it, maybe enchanting it with CE fortify strength is a good idea?

Yes, lifting a war hammer above your head takes some time. I found almost all adversaries, except some unique end-of-level bosses, can be surprised by a backstab. Sneaking towards the back of your enemy not only gives you critical damage but in the case of hammer wielders it, more importantly, gives you the initiative. Backstabbing with a powerful warhammer certainly will kill in one hit.

Have any of you tried a character who's unarmored and specialises in hand to hand fighting? Could you finish the game like this, do you think?

I think this is the kind of character I'll play in my 2nd incarnation.

I don't think I've ever specialised as a marksman in any game I've played before - I've enjoyed the blood and gore of melee combat too much!

But I'll give it a try next time.

You see a dot on your screen big blurry and very slow, mmmmm looks like an ascended sleeper. Let's fire an arrow at it and look if it hurts :P ZOOOF arrow away, BANG third of his life gone if not more. mmmmm you think let's try that again as you aim your daedric longbow with shock enchanted arrows while the slowly movving sleeper is heading for you. ZWIF ! plang the sleeper jolts from the lightning now furious walking towards you !

You wait patiently and aim your bow,

The sleeper is getting closer,

He makes the well known move about to cast his "long" distance magic assault,

Without a second notice you release

:D I just took out the black dart gang. They have very sophisticated weaponry! Luckily it is still intact, they obviously didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition ..errr.. me sneaking into their headquarters. Those darts are awesome, I think they must be the most devestating ranged weapons in the game.
