By Baldur's Gate II, his mind finally completely picked up and left, and he goes completely insane in the Government district, and you encounter him a last time in the asylum at Brynnlaw.

A jackal is a wild dog, basically. They are alive in RL aswell in RPGs. They are very wild and hungry for meat. They are simple kills. Level 1...maybe 2 at best.

Yep. They are in one of the Baldurs Gate games and they are listed in my D&D monster manual.
