I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Q&A on GameSpot with Troika's Tim Cain, talking about the upcoming D&D RPG they're developing based upon the original Temple of Elemental Evil module. Without hesitating, I created a forum here on GameBanshee for all of us to discuss it and to post any news that might hit the web about the game.

Yep. I did play it when I was but a young lad. My memory not being what it used to be, I'd be hard pressed to tell you much more than that though
I do remember enjoying it despite the D&D rules that I found a bit weird at the time...
What's really got me interested in this is that it's being made by the fine team at Troika (I have to say that since I know a few of them and you never know if they might be reading this )
I for one greatly enjoyed Arcanum despite it's flaws, and I can only hope that G:ToEE offers as much oportunity in taking different paths through the game and is halfway as diverse.
I'm very curious to set my eyes on the first few screenshots for this puppy.

Temple of Elemental Evil? I'm there!!!
I played all the early AD&D modules back in the day - including T1 The Village of Homlet. Remember all the speculation about the TOEE module? It wasnt released for a few years after T1 - it was kind of a running joke at TSR - the most anticipated module and they kept delaying it.
I still have a copy of T1 - but I sold my TOEE module on Ebay about 2 years ago - I got around $60.00 for it I think - kind of wish I still had it.
Can't wait for this game - it will be interesting to see how they implement 3rd edition rules compared to bioware as well as how they handle the single player party dynamics.
Lets hope for the best.

ToEE is easily my favorite module ever and I was a born Greyhawk fan.
Very interested to see how this plays out. I wonder what they plan to add to it so that it fills up an entire game? It sounds heartening so far, esp. the decision to go with 2-d backgrounds and isometric view.
Can't wait for the chance to revisit my favorite Oerth stomping grounds. I've always said the BG games biggest flaw was that it wasn't set in Greyhawk.

Thanks so much Buck Satan for this new forum! Earlier today I was on the ttlg.com boards and someone under their gaming forum posted a link to the Gamespot interview with Tim Cain. It was the first I heard of an actual Greyhawk RPG for the computer. Then tonight I did a google search for more info and I believe this is the first, and right now only, forum dealing with this game. Greyhawk lives! Like many of you I played most of my P&P A&D in the Greyhawk lands of old Oerth. Many of my online colleagues have been waiting for an RPG in this setting, but like many I never thoiught it would happen.
I really hope that the game is as good as Tim Cain relates it in his excellent interview. Does anyone know if there is an address to write to let Troika know of our enthusiasm for their new game?

Intriguing. I have been wishing for a long time that someone would resurrect the Greyhawk G-series, especially the cloud giant module and it looks like that may be in the works for a follow-up.
My experience of the T-series was colored by a very poor DM and a group of kids that were just discovering girls, so I quit about half-way through the first module. Hopefully, this will redeem my impression.
The multiple endings and vignettes sound great. I wonder if they will base the endings on actual alignment changes (as Bioware did in the PS:T system) or something analagous to reputation in the BG series.

Sounds too late for that. While the interview didn't say turn-based explicitly, the questions about Pool of Radiance and the answers certainly strongly suggest turn-based play.Just as long as they don't implement that turn-based crap from Arcanum - it ruined what otherwise would have been an awesome game.
To be honest, the largest problems I had with NWN and ID2 were that with the continuous turn play some of the nuances and tactical choices of 3e were lost. I will admit the Pool of Radiance didn't do turn-based particularly well, but that was really the least of its many problems.
I played the original T1-4 way back when and enjoyed it until we all died horribly on the 4th level. I ran it for another group who also enjoyed it before dieing horribly on the 3rd level. A couple of years ago, I adapted it to 3e; they are certainly correct about some things changing quite a bit! Ogres are a bit easier, but encounters like any of the giants are much more difficult. I'm looking forward to this; Troika has a good track record so far, and it sounds like they will get this one right.

I have my originial ToEE right here in my hands. Damn thing is like 15 years old at least. I started gaming when I was 12. Started with D&D of course and ran it for my friends.
One day I bought this module that said Advanced D&D on it. It was Dragonlances first module. I remember looking at all the weird numbers. 12" movemnet rate!? What in Hades was that? Why was a daggers damage 1-4/1-3 ? Two handed swords do 1-10/3-18? This was some weird stuff! So I had to buy AD&D books............
Sorry about going down memory lane but Im going to be 30 soon and it seems like yesterday I was playing that very first initial choose your own path adventure in the basic book with that warrior, the cleric Aleena, and that damn evil mage Bargle! (I think it was Bargle....).
Every single Computer Game I play that has you make up characters and such has a cleric named Aleena in it heheh
