Greetings.
Having only just started the game, and working through the Targos prologue level, I have got a "charred Vellum Scroll" off a dead goblin, and keep on trying to get Ellytharra to identify it.
But whenever I try by using the conversation link, the game goes to the buy and sell screen instead!?
I've tried loads of times, but same thing happens. Is this a bug?
Is there a fix?
Thanks

Oh boy... How silly do I feel? After lpaying BG 1 and 2? and some of ID1. sheesh...
Thanks a lot, Bloodhound
Erm...so I also have an identify scroll that my wizard cant use coz she's an Evoker, but I cant seem to get my Cleric to use it either- is that normal? Only when I read the description of the item it says Rogues and Clerics can use it, but mine cant.
(please dont let it be something obvious...please dont let it be something obvious...)
Great game, tho!

There are some clerical spells that are alignment-based. Blasphemy for example can only be cast by evil clerics while Holy Word can only be cast by good clerics, maybe this is the case.

Where'd you pick up an Identify scroll from? When I originally started, I had the "Randomized Treasure" element of WeiDU's IWD Ease-Of-Use, which changed around items in random drops and stores (including making the Braehg in Guthewulfe's shop become an identify scroll in it's appearance and description, but it still functioned as the Braehg -- in other words, I couldn't identify with it, but I could *SPOILER (highlight)* give it to the sick guy in the pavilion to heal him.
If you also have this mod element installed, this may be the culprit. By the way, you can safely uninstall that element, and all the items will revert to what they are supposed to be, even without reinstalling the game.

Check out the WeiDU main site, http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~weimer/bgate/index.html, to see what I was talking about. It primarily has Baldur's Gate 2 mods, but has a few IWD2 mods as well.
The Randomized Treasure I was talking about is an element of the WeiDU "Ease Of Use" mod. I don't know exactly how it works, except that it picks uses a seed to randomize the treasure you find (keeping the rarity and some other variables the same) as well as items in stores. I found this to cause problems at the beginning of the game (the braehg <-> identify scroll problem, among others), so I uninstalled it.
