The poltergeist is just another word for our undead ghost friends. There has also been some sort of movie by the same name or something... While I cant make any claims that any ghost has gone as poltergeist in any RPG, I can say thats what D&D uses, so since the word is a lot more fun for hangman then "ghost" I threw it out there.

Xan is my favorite NPC of the entire Baldurs Gate series. He is always depressed and looking on the darkside. He's my hero. He makes for a dang good sorcerer too. When I found out he wasnt going to be in BG2, I was quite sad. But oh well...I guess all good things and characters must come to an end.
