Soloing definitely sounds fun. The problem is getting past the first few battles, because your character will still be very weak. I tried it with my paladin and he always got creamed by 5 or 6 orcs shortly after entering the Main Halls.

I may revisit this after I finish the game with my dynamic duo :)

It's probably hard to get past Stillwater going solo :D

EDIT - I've started a new game where I'll only have one PC until I pick up other NPC's. He's a barbarian/cleric (cleave and turn undead are the keys). Combat's kind of hit and miss. If I start cleaving, then I'm safe. If I start missing then I get creamed. Much more interesting than having four party members :D

I actually made a solo attempt with a Paladin/Monk. Started as Paladin using armour until i was strong enough to switch to Monks abilities while keeping my turn undead ability high. Got a few levels, and covered up most of Main Halls.
But it usually involves luck and LOTS of reloads at the beginning especially with some bad dice. :D

Yeah. I got killed by the beginning orcs so many times. I managed to kill the vampiric wraith though (thanks to a potion of speed, shield of faith, resistance, bless, protection from evil), but it's largely because I managed to hit it before I loss all my constitution. I've had to reload a LOT because of those orcs though.....

Do you guys know if Paladins ever get Cleave? Mine still doesn't have it at level 7.

Two questions: Shadows are undead right? And is there a good PoR site (other than GameBanshee's) that talks a lot about strategy, but isn't heavy on spoilers?

Yes, shadows are undead and can be turned.

There is a good Pool of Radiance guide at the GameFAQs. The first section contains general strategy and the second part is a walkthrough.

You can't directly link to the FAQ, but go to:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin

and look under "P" for "Pool of Radiance, Ruins of Myth Drannor"

The only other place I can think of is the official PoR forums at

http://www.ubisoft.com

but the signal to noise ratio is quite low
