Which is longer, BG or BG2?

Post by Quitch »

Assuming you tackle all the sub-quests, which game is longer? If BG, do you think it's because of the aimless wilderness wandering?

bg1 took much mroe time for me to finish, but i ll also admid the fact that i used a lot of the walktrhough section to finish bg2.

but walking around places and all that took a long time.
the game did not even begin before the 5th cd =]

bg1 took me longer time, both in terms of days in game and in real life

BG I, definately. Slower walking speeds, big-arse wilderness areas, spending hours to level up, all these contribute to its length. In BG II, the walking speeds are faster, no wilderness, and you get XP for breathing practically, so it is over in a snap. Like this: *Snap*. See? Here it goes again: *Snap*. :D

BG1. Those endless criss-crossings of four wheel drive real estate were thoroughly boring, and endless. And in the city itself, people agreed to meet you at places that weren't notated on your map, but which you were expected to discover on your own.

I do have to say that BG1 seemed a bit better balanced, however. The goodies were much fewer, and quests gave you more limited experience bonuses. Still, BG2 is a far better game in all other respects, IMO.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

BG 1 is way longer. There were more smaller sub quests in it, while in bg2 there are a few large subquest. I got through the asylum and chap 6 really quickly. In bg1 the game really started once you reached the city.
