Disaster

Post by Whistler »

Whilst loading a new area (the loading bar had reached approximately half way), my computer decided to freeze. I was forced to restart the pc, however when i next tried to load a saved game, I got an error message reading:

'An assertion failed in ChVidImage3d.cpp at line number 1957'

Baldur's Gate II promptly closes down after that. I have tried reinstalling, but that has not changed anything :( . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance.

It may be that the saved game you're trying to load has become corrupted; are you loading only an autosave or quicksave game? You may want to try an earlier normal-saved game, or basically some other save that you weren't in at the time of the crash, see if that brings up the error or not.

Please be sure to download the BG2 patch from Bioware's site, or the ToB patch if you have ToB installed as well.

heh, my mate had the same problem, we were playing bg2 mp. He then tried to load the game and bg2 gave the same error.
One or more of the savegames is corrupt. Check your .bmp's, they have no filesize.
We've tried everything we could, replacing the .bmp's etc. Nothing worked. Prolly the game.dat became corrupted with the crash
You'll have to start over again :/
