Damn good list. Now to see what of this stuff i would like. Pretty new to music and rock. Want to listen to whatever is really good and very very heavy

Then I heartily recommend Ministry's "Psalm 69." Very, very heavy...and very, very good.

Yeah, Psalm 69 is the name of the CD...I wouldn't call Ministry "Metal", though. Intense and exceedingly heavy, yes. Al Jorgenson went ballistic on that CD...it's one of my favorites.
Old Rush albums are an excellent choice...try "Hemispheres", "Moving Pictures", "2112"...

(US, five Top 40 hits, two Top 40 albums)
ACRONYMED YANK shockrockers, whose full name is mythically We Are Sexual Perverts and beyond the heavy fraternity, are perhaps only mildly famous with the non- connoisseur for their onstage antics rather than their music. Certainly they are to us, as we don't remember any of the five singles which burnt a hole in the Top 40 between '86 and '89, but we do remember moralistic 'outrage' tales among the stricter Press over chucking raw meat at crowds and horsewhipping naked women mid-show. Sounds like an average night out for your bog-standard Kerrang! reader. Should you be the type who can expand further, then we'd love to hear from you. The only other thing that leaps to mind is the asterisking of their initials on album covers.
Biggest Hit: "Mean Man", No.21, 1989
Defining Moment: Carcasses.

Hmmm...well somewhere in my collection I have two Ministry albums. One is very heavy, the other extremely "poppy/electric" in comparison and hardly the same band. I must admit to have only listened to each album twice before deciding they weren't for me

"Psalm 69" is the one I listened to...and you are correct, it's quite different from what they normally do. That's a pretty dark and angry compilation...but then I like stuff like that.

New Order followed in his footsteps, and quite simply did a fantastic job carrying the legacy. Really, just epic songs from them.
Seconded. Its a great tune. Unfortunetly Ian Curtis did commit suicide.Originally posted by Maharlika

Agh, Chanak, traitor!
How can you classify Iron Maiden as hard rock!??
They're Heavy Metal by definition!!
I know there are heavier things, but they have other names...
Thrash, Death and all (self-explanatory..)
The main difference anyway is that those are played without heart
And how can you exclude the albums after Powerslave!!!
At most the two without Bruce... but hear the songs live now, with him!
Agh, that hurt!
P.S: really Man O War is spelled Manowar, or did you mean another band?
Who dared!?

Yes I am alive. ^^;;
Me get going on Music. This you don't want to see.
I love rock music. All rock music.
I hate rap but I do like the rap element in some rock.
My favorite band of all time ever is definitely Linkin Park. There is no denying it they are the best band ever (OK people deny it. Beee-beh
)
I also love Stain'd, Puddle of Mudd, Good Charlotte, and of course, AFI. AFI is awesome but fans are hard to come by...
But Linkin Park is still my favorite band, because all of their lyrics look like I wrote them, they're my style all around.
Nirvana is good too, and Metallica. I like Metallica's music even if their lyrics grow old. I grew up with them. Nirvana is fun to listen to and even to karaoke but your voice hurts after a while.
SR71 is good too. So are the White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down... someone shut me up now.
I'm too into music, I even dress like it. I like dark colors, and spike bracelets and stuff like that.
To all Gundam fans: Not your everyday Quatre.
Edit. I forgot Stone Sour. Kill me please

.. more later.

I'm pretty much into metal, nu-metal, and rock. Some bands have a rap element.
System of a Down: Best band ever. Love pretty much most of their songs, off all 3 albums released. "Spiders", "Chop Suey", and "Mr. Jack" are awesome songs.
Adema: Awesome band that never got noticed. Love especially "Trust" and "Giving In".
Slipknot: ...cause they're Slipknot. I just seem to relate to the chaos/hatred/pain in their songs... "Left Behind" and "Wait and Bleed" are favourites.
Disturbed: Great band. "Stupify" and "The Game" are great.
Linkin Park: A great band. "Pushing me away" is my favourite.
Nirvana: I'm not too big on them, but "Smells like Teen Spirit" is one of my all-time favourite songs.
Papa Roach: Really good band, although their 2nd album was disappointing. "Last Resort" is still my favourite.
Dry Cell: No album released, and they sound like Linkin Park, but a more metal feel. "Brave" and "Body Crumbles" are awesome.
Smashing Pumpkins: Awesome band. "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" is great.
Staind: Deserves mention for their song, "Outside". Awesome, awesome song.
I also like Limp Bizkit, Crazy Town, Korn, Alien Ant Farm, Green Day, Taproot, MudVayne, Mushroomhead, Puddle of Mudd, Our Lady Peace, Treble Charger, Matthew Good Band, Incubus, and Rob Zombie.
Also, to anyone that likes nu-metal, download "Reflection" by V-mob. Damn best metal song ever.

And why wouldn't you think Pennywise is punk??? I agree with you on the whole Blink 182, Sum 41, A simple plan etc... are not punk. But I most certainly believe that Pennywise does not deserve that. I think that they are still very much punk because they still embody the spirit of what it's all about. Bands like Blink 182 sing about getting dumped and being a loser, that's wrong.
As for the whole violence and death message, that's not true. If that's what's worrying you then you should be disliking bands like Slipknot. They deliver the message: Go kill somebody. Punk rock is something different. The message is: to stand up for what you believe in and take control of your own life.
