I'm trying to sort out all of the info on patches so i can decide what to download on my pokey poke dial-up connection. I just started playing this game again after about a year break -- yep forgot all my tricks. Can you guys help? I also have ToB installed.
1) Way back when, I downloaded an offical patch that fixed some bugs and added "bonus vendors". (2 of them-- so i can get the robe of vecna). Is the current official patch the same, or has it been updated. It would take a long time to download over my superfast 56k connection, so I dont want to download it if it doesnt add to what i already have.
2) I keep seeing references to Balderdash patch. But there are several versions. Seems this patch will remove various bugs that the developers left in (unless Balerdash is a developer). What would be the latest version of Balderdash patch? I'd like to get it. It seems essential.
3)Are there any ToB patches? I havent seen any reference to any (well, offical patches anyway.)
4) Other than the All Strongholds patch (which I'd like to get), are there any other useful patches that I should consider downloading.
I really appreciate any advice on this folks!
Help on all these patches please

Welcome back, NTWAYNE!
There are some links to mods and patches in the BG Reference Crossroads in this forum that you might find useful.
Most of the good mods, like Weimer's mods, which you can find in the links in the Reference thread, are of considerable size and are definitely not dial-up friendly.
To answer your questions,
1. The current official Bioware patch is the same, so you can save time in not downloading it. Just to be sure, you can check at Bioware's support site.
2. Baldurdash Home. Most of the patches are small and downloadable. You can take your pick.
The latest ToB patches are dated 25Feb03.
3. ToB patch It's 8mb in size, so be prepared.
4. Please see the BG Reference thread!
Hope that helps.

thanks for patch help
Thanks for the info BaldergateFan . Downloading the incredibly funny Cheese Guide yeilded me links to XyX's Spell Guide, and from there to Baldurdash's page.
Looks like each Baldurdash patch is different -- does not include the previous fixes. So I may have to do each one. Thats not bad except for the BIG one you mentioned.
2 last questions.
1) am i correct in my assumptions on the patch contents -- I need to add each one.
2) Will this clobber my current game? I'm about 87 game-days into my new game -- would hate to have to clobber it -- but I dont think my Monk is up to snuff so maybe I should (Wisdom of 14. Not sure how much a higher wisdom will help him though.)
BG reference thread. hmmmm, how did i miss that....?

1. Yes, you will need to download each one individually if you don't get the all-in fix. For myself, I went through each one individually as I did not want a few particular fixes (read: still need the cheese).
2. Not that I know of. To be safe, you may like to read the readme contained in each fix.
Good luck!

oops. i did it now
Well, tried to install one of the the fixes and it wouldnt install over ToB. So, bing the charge-ahead person that am, i uninstalled ToB, and oooops, it uninstalled SoA too. well, its still there, but i get a message taht it isnt. But i can see it in Explorer.
Luckily, i still have the original official patch i downloaded in Aug 2001 and the bonus merchants patch still in my "extra stuff" folder. So I wont have to download those long things again.
Looks like I'll have to reinstall the whole darn thing, and lose my game. Means I wont get into the game again for a couple of days, cause I just cnt go back through all the same quests again so fast. But at least minsk, imoen and nalia will have their abilities from the start (dont care about nalia anyway. i like Jan)

didnt destroymy game...yay!
I thought it did, but I did a full uninstall/reinstall of SoA, and when I went to play it, Viola! my game was there!
So ive continued. But now I want to start my first multi/dual class and get two strongholds. Guess I'll be doing some forum reading.
Has the person that did the "Multiple Romance" mod checked it for ToB. I couldnt tell from what Ive read so far. But I would like to go ahead and install it. I'm a little chicken.....
ooh, to bad i cant be the Totemic Druid with a Chicken as my Totem (Spirt Animal). Perfect with my bravery level. hee hee

Yes, he did. Multiple Stronghold works too with ToB installed. While we are on this subject, you might like to do a duplicate of your present Override folder found in BG2/SoA. This is so that when you make any changes down the road and something goes wrong, you have a backup. Just a little suggestion
