You're right.

This sentence wasn't the clearest one in the world, but I only read it one of the many ways it could have been read: If a player can't beat the game after 10 years of trying, as you state so darn full of yourself, then he should post his problem over here. The "as you state" would have read much better with a couple of these badboys: ( ) :P

Still, it was my fault for reading it in only one of the ways it could be read. My apologies.

[Edit: This is one of the most annoying things about English.]

It's because a lot of moderators are raving idiots. If a newbie decided to post a message with a spoiler in the topic, even assuming there's 24/7 moderation and the mod catches it with relative quickness and deletes it, the message can still reach dozens of people, potentially spoiling their game. Most boards do not have moderators who watch the board 24/7, and where one newbie is educated or banned, another appears to take his or her place as spoiler-in-topic-poster.

Neither me nor any of the other moderators at GameBanshee are able to monitor all the boards 24 hours a day. One cannot expect this from people that voluntair to devote a bit of their time to a good site. The only suggestion that I could make is that one wants some info without getting spoiler information, he or she should indicate this in the topic name.

I agree with A Player that threads can easily evolve in such a fashion that they end up with spoiler information. Sorry but this is a risk of trying to find the information you want on a message board.

I agree with you, Flagg. I was just giving some tips for the extremely spoiler-anal folks(such as myself). And you listed a very nice option for the spoiler-anal to use message boards with a bit more spoiler safety.

What kind of word is spoiler-anal?!
You, you sick minded person!

People that wish to visit message boards, like me, can do as they wish. I don't think you are in the position to judge them for that.
Dafreak apologized for his action, which I greatly accept. Why would you "criticize" him for doing that? He did right, since normally posters are supposed to put "SPOILER" in their threads, if there happen to be any in the respective post. Dafreak's mistake is understandable as he's new on this board. But that doesn't mean people should be discouraged to warn other members of spoiler-content.
Thank you.

Haven't you heard the term anal retentive?

People that wish to visit message boards, like me, can do as they wish.

I never said they couldn't.

I don't think you are in the position to judge them for that.

I never judged anyone for that, nor do I plan to. I offered general advice to all who might read and are anal retentive about spoilers. It's their choice to take it or not.

Dafreak apologized for his action, which I greatly accept. Why would you "criticize" him for doing that?

Did I criticize him? See EDIT.

He did right, since normally posters are supposed to put "SPOILER" in their threads, if there happen to be any in the respective post.

See below.

Dafreak's mistake is understandable as he's new on this board. But that doesn't mean people should be discouraged to warn other members of spoiler-content.

I assert that the spoiler warnings should be in and around the links to the message boards themselves, warning those who are anal retentive about spoilers to tread very carefully.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

[EDIT: Actually, I did criticize his action. Not him, though.]

We should take this to mail or to IRC/ICQ as Flagg said, Pope, so we can bash each other.

That's why I wrote "criticize" (see the "s). You told him he didn't do anything wrong, which, IMO, is incorrect. No matter who, if he puts a spoiler in the thread subject, has made a mistake.

I feel the same way about the spoiler alerts. I didn't even realize that wasn't present at this message board. Hell, I've visited tons of boards. Most of them had this mentioned at the forum summary.

@Buck: Couldn't you add this?

I edited my post while you were typing yours. We're too darn eager.

Regarding him putting a spoiler in his topic, he'd be in the wrong if there was a rule against it posted at the entrance to the forums or somewhere. As is, he wasn't really doing anything wrong.

[EDIT: Hmm, there IS spoiler warning of sorts at http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi in the board description, though it's easy to miss.]

Yeah, making a bigger spoiler warning and making the "mark your spoilers" official would be nice, even though telling people to mark their spoilers wouldn't prevent everything.

I vote for big, flashing, seizure-inducing animated spoiler warning and rules GIFs at the MB entrance! :P

LOL @ Pope!!! Why do you waste your time arguing with A Player? A man who argues with an ass, becomes one himself. That word was Donkey if it becomes ***. Personally I think the friggin moderators need to leave the board alone and stop deleting posts and shutting down topics. Friggin Nazis all of them, except buck satan.... he owns my soul i think.

I guess for you, the truth is less important than ....what exactly? You can't win an argument by making obvious errors, can you?
