Notice your portrait when you do activate stunning blow, there's a little icon on there similar to when the quivering palm is activated and it only lasts a limited amount of time and I believe has only a percetnage chance to work, so it may not work everytime.

Ok just checked myself from the manual, the stunning blow when activated only lasts 6 seconds and the enemy has to make a save to avoid the effects which means not every hit will cause a enemy to be stunned.

And I'm not sure if an icon appears on your portrait that might only happen with quivering palm.

thats the problem

There is no icon or anything. The ability is not drained, when i attempt to use the ability the monk just continues to fight as normal

You will see a slight animation when it is activated and if there is a hit, you can see the effect of the opponents being stunned. Fighting is as per normal, even when quivering palm is activated. I am not sure if you will see icons; never noticed.

thats all well and good but how do I activate it. I manage to figure it out. I was treating it like a target spell, click the ability, click the target. But since it is more of an aura ability, when i clicked the target i was cancelling the activation of the ability. For anyone having the same problem, you have to click the icon, wait for the ability to take effect, then strike your opponent bfore the ability wears off.

Yes, that's right. It took me a while to figure out how to use it. Come to think of it, there are icons to indicate that Stunning Blow and Quivering Palm are activated, just like Hardiness. In the thick of the battle, it's easy to overlook.

like, are you sure you don't have a sword or some other weapon equiped?? you have to use your bare hands for the ability to be able to function

my problem was i was treating the ability like say, a magic missle. you click the spell icon, then your target. Since i pause to use spells and abilities, these two actions would happen instantly. But stunning blow is like detect traps. you just turn it on, you dont just look for a trap on a specific door. When i tried to target, it would be like starting to detect traps then attacking a monster (while paused so they happen instantly), detect traps wont be activated because you cant detect traps while attacking a creature.
