At Fable's advice I would like to submit this new thread for anyone's/everyone's comments and as a vehicle to share information regarding any of the following (as well as anything else one may feel is relevent to the general topic):

The Council on Foreign Relations
The Bilderburgs
The Illuminati
The Bohemian Grove
Skull and Bones
New world Order

I realize that these are very general and not really couched in question form. I really intend them to be discussion topics. Also, since I am new to this forum I would appreciate any pointers on proper etiquette for starting a thread, etc. as it seems I may have gotten off on the wrong foot with fable(?).

Just to be clear: I have no opinions on whatever is going to be discussed. I merely suggested that if it went beyond the parameters of the latest Iraqi discussion, as seemed the case, it belonged in a new thread.

That said, carry on.

It is not that I am a conspiracy advocate..but I do find them interesting .....have you ever heard of a book The Beast of Ellis Island...It is one of the most interesting conspiracy theories I have read...now, I want to make it clear..I am not saying I hold much credence inthese theories..but the corrolations are interesting.....

To tell you the truth I don't know very much about said theories...though just as Scayde I'm rather interested of conspiracy-theories in general even though they may not all sound so credible...

Latest conspiracy-theory I've come across is "the 27 conspiracy", rather odd really....

@G'Argst, I believe (I have been wrong before) you are hinting at a New World Order with these conspiracy theories (At least from reading the other thread)

Do you believe the US government (Or these groups) can scare the US public enough to ban guns in the US? The NRA has (I believe will always) stop any attempt.

(Myself, I pay no attention to the "Terror Alert" board

Anyway like to hear more, it ain't paranoia if they really are out to get you. Said by kissinger to Nixon, but applicable anyway to anyone accused of paranoia without reason.

Not really into the Illuminati thing, maybe its true, maybe not, oh well each to their own. To me it seemed rather convenient that 9/11 happened right when Bush's popularity ratings were in the toilet and that the fighter jets had a fair amount of warning but did not shoot the planes down, or that Bush right now is trying to cover up any connections he or his family might have had with Al Quaeda, rather suspicious isn't it, is there any evidence you know of or theories that might deal with this more?

There is a talk radio host, Alex Jones, that says that they are only 'conspiracy theories' when there isn't any facts to support the suppositions. I guess one could argue about the 'facts' presented by a growing number of mainstream media stories.

Yes, the New World Order is the focus of my musings.

In my opinion, the NRA is nothing more than the ultimate gun owner list for the BATF to use after martial law is declared. Scare the American gun owner into giving up their guns? What will you do when your local police show up at your door to confiscate your weapons 'for the good of the neighborhood'? If you don't believe that could occur search the web on New Mexico State Laws H253.

I want to post another disclaimer: It is not my intention to try to convince anyone that anything I post as IMO has any more worth than anything anyone else can post in support or opposition. I made up my own mind regarding these issues and expect everyone to do the same.

btw. To make this not spam..

I heard on some local radio station about this broad who was a Skull and Key girl (No relation to the fabled Skull and Crossbones) but she slept with a bunch of those guys and ratted out the story.

Real trip, I'll try to find a link to her book.

I personally don't own a gun, but I would hate to be the police who showed up at one of my neighbors and tried to take their guns.

Street fighting in Iraq might be bloody...come into my neighbors and watch the fireworks. No joke I can sit here and think of at least 12 houses within 5 miles of where I sit with enough hunting rifles (some big enough to take a 5 inch oak and bring it to the ground in one shot) to arm 60 people.

Confiscation angst

@weasel. Anytime anyone asks me about disarming the American public I am immediately reminded of Australia, Canada and the UK. Three decidedly freedom loving populations also and it seems that the majority of the population willingly (at least there wasn't overt revolution) gave up their firearms.

I think we have a unique situation here in that we, as a culture, view firearms differently than most of the rest of the world. We are not that far removed from 1880's Abilene. But I also feel that the majority of folks would capitulate rather than be incarcerated or dead. Most would give them up rather than put their families in danger.

I do own guns, hunt (and fish), as well as shoot for sport (IPSC and skeet). I have questioned what my reaction would be especially since I have good neighbors and close friends that are police officers. I hope I would have enough advance notice to be out of the city when martial law is declared. Or that those officers would turn a blind eye (not all of them are embracing the Patriot/Homeland Security/Police State mentality that the Federal government is advocating).

AN ACT
RELATING TO A STATE OF EMERGENCY; PROVIDING THE GOVERNOR WITH EXPRESS AUTHORITY TO ORDER AN EVACUATION DURING A STATE OF EMERGENCY; AMENDING A SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. Section 30-20-6 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1969, Chapter 281, Section 3) is amended to read:
"30-20-6. EMERGENCY RESTRICTIONS.--
A. During the existence of a state of emergency, the governor may, by proclamation, prohibit:
(1) any person being on the public streets, in the public parks or at any other public place during the hours proclaimed by the governor to be a period of curfew;
(2) any designated number of persons from assembling or gathering on the public streets, public parks or other open areas, either public or private, or in any public building;
(3) the manufacture, transfer, use, possession or transportation of [any] a device or object designed to explode or produce uncontained combustion;
(4) the transportation, possession or use of combustible, flammable or explosive materials in a glass or uncapped container of any kind, except in connection with the normal operation of motor vehicles, normal home use or legitimate commercial use;
(5) the possession of firearms or any other deadly weapon by a person in any place other than his place of residence or business, except for peace officers;
(6) the sale, purchase or dispensing of alcoholic beverages or other commodities or goods designated by the governor;
(7) the use of certain streets or highways by the public; [and]
(8) all or part of the population from remaining in any designated area within the state if the governor deems such action necessary for the preservation of life or necessary to aid an emergency response, recovery or mitigation. In order to facilitate an evacuation, the governor may prescribe travel routes, transportation modes and assigned destinations and may provide for the availability and use of temporary, emergency housing for evacuees; and
[(8)] (9) other activities the governor reasonably believes should be prohibited to help maintain life, property or the public peace.
B. [Any] A proclamation issued [under] pursuant to this section becomes effective immediately upon its signing by the governor, but the governor shall give public notice of its contents through the public press and other news media. The restrictions may be imposed during times, upon conditions, with exceptions and in areas of the state designated by proclamation of the governor from time to time."
Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2003.

The scariness of this is intensified by who our govenor is.....

TIA is only one small part of the information mining excesses that, incidently, have been going on since Nixon's administration (and probably before).
