Alignment Shift -- But I checked and didnt have one!!

Post by NTWAYNE »

Not sure if this should be here or in ToB since I'm in ToB now w/ my solo Monk. But I've played him through SoA and I have an unexpected alignment shift. He has always been Lawful Neutral.

In Hell in SoA, I took the path to "Save yourself" and killed the poor innocent bystander. I then checked to see if I had an alignment shift, since I remembered ending up w/ a Fallen Paladin in my first game due to this. Well, I checked and my alignment was still listed as Lawful Neutral. OK, so I have Blackrazor, saved myself, and I'm still Lawful Neutral. fine.

So, I'm in ToB, I havent killed any good people but I noticed my possible statements seemed to be a bit more, oh, "hotheaded" than they had been. I checked my stats and noticed I was now Neutral Evil. Huh? when? why? Was there a delay in the game showing me my alignment change in Hell? Or have I inadvertantly done something nasty nasty? My reputation is Heroic. Interesting . Neutral Evil Monk that is considered Heroic.

Also, how will the Evil alignment affect my choices? And can I get my Lawful Neutral back somehow?

The alignment change thing in hell is tricky.
It does not always happen exactly at the moment you make an "evil" choice... In fact, I'm not sure about what exactly triggers the change.

But, sure enough, after *all* the choices are made, if you have Blackrazor you become evil. Trust me on it.

Change back? He he... Do you have Shadowkeeper? ;)
I fear nothing short of it could help you...
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

checked my final save

I checked my Final Save which is right before I smack Irenicus. Its still Lawful Neutral. Oh, come on. The shift would make sense to me if my alignment was Good (Any Good). Because any of those choices would be a betrayal of my basic beliefs. But Neutral. Neutrals may feel "Well, bad things happen some times but help the greater good. Me having Blackrazor helps the greater good -- I think, maybe on Tuesday." Same w/ the poor peasant girl I let get killed.

A ToB post mentioned getting shift if u have to fight Paladins in your test of retribution (yep, I did have to fight Knights of the House).

I'm really disapointed on this. Does SK work on ToB?

Yes, shadowkeeper works in ToB.
But I thought you couldn't change it back.
But what does it matter that you now have an evil allignment?
You cans till do good things.

I always thought you're allignment shifted when you inserted the tear.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Yeah, I replayed taht section and found that the alignment didnt shift until I inserted the tear in the Abyssmal Door. Darn!

Oh, well. hope it doesnt make my pc do/say wierd things. Not weird, just, well, you know, EVIL. And I man not be able to use certain weapons -- dont know. But I liked being neutral.

I think at one point in the game you're offered stock in Microsoft if you're evil, but otherwise, I wouldn't worry. ;)

Quite. Lawful evil thief. Heads an organization of vampires, beholders, and mindflayers.
