"A Protection from Undead scroll invokes a 3' radius circle of protection around the target. It protects the person within from all physical attacks made by undead such as ghasts, ghosts, ghuols, skeletons, wraiths, zombies, ect. It does not offer any protection from magical attacks, howerever, and will wear off with the passage of 10 turns"

Try stacking up on magic protection (scroll's, potions) and protection from undead.
Hold out until he's drained his protections.
As said earlier keep your party away from him.
Owh, and a friend of mine then just killed him with one, solid, backstab and some melee.

*** Slight spoilers with a hint of cheese
***
I find that the easiest way to take him out is to simply have my tanks beat him up until he changes into his demi-lich form (that's when he imprisons you) then have one of my fighters use the Helm Of The Balduran (casts simiraculum{sp?} ) with a Protection From Magic scroll in their quick slot. Get your simmy to cast Prot. From Magic on your chatacter as well as themselves while the rest of your party is out of the way near the stairs where you enter the room. He won't be able to imprison your character while the scroll is in effect. He will just keep casting it until you kill him for good.
This is of course taking advantage of poor AI, there are patches and fixes for Kangaxx to make him a lot smarter/harder. Both the helm and the scroll can be found in the Adv. Mart. This is a cheesy way because you get your simmy to cast the scroll for you, so that you don't actually lose the scroll for good. There is only 2 in the game, both are bought from the Adv Mart. Or use a Prot From Undead instead of Magic, which ever you preferr.
A beserker while enraged also is immune to his imprisonment, but it won't last as long as the Prot From Magic. If you do a search in the forums here you'll find many threads about how to kill him. You'll find ways to take him out using cheese or genuine tactics

What does prot. from Undead do, actually? i thought it only helped against melee attacks?
Mmm, I think it makes you kind of invisible from Undeads.
However, I found some threads mentioning "cast prot. from Undead on liches". I've never tried, and am not sure how it would be effective.

Back to the question of how to kill Kangy, use summons as fodder for his imprisonment spells. After that, move in with your fighters. If you have the Sling of Everad, that can hit him too at a distance. I normally equip mage types with it, so they don't get too near him. Pelt him with everything you have got and you will have a dead Kangy.
Be careful of his Time Stop too, by the way.

Killing Kangaxx
Basically you need to accomplish two things to kill Kangaxx in his floating skull form.
1) Negate his infinite casts of Imprisonment, which can be accomplished by (at least) the following means:
Scroll of protection vs. Undead cast on whoever is actually fighting him
Spell Immunity:Abjuration - which is self only
Protection vs. Magic cast on whoever is actually fighting him
2) Damage him enough to kill him, which requires either
a +4 or better weapon - Carsomyr, Staff of the Magi, etc.
Magic damage to which he is not immune, such as Melf's Minute Meteors, Energy blades, etc.
I used Keldorn + Carsomyr + Prot. vs. Undead. Don't forget to PP his lich form BEFORE he turns hostile.
Protection vs. Undead makes undead of any kind unable to percieve you in any way. This also prevents initiating dialogue, so be aware.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

try the bunnies....
using limited wish
"i wish for a horde to overrun my enemies...."
brings up a bunch of cute, cuddly hassenfeffer....
(Which i might convert into fluffy, fuzzy vorpal attack bunnies someday using sk....but thats another time)
then spawn kangy, who will start to attack the bunnies, giving your meelee fighters with protect from undead or magic a good shot at killing him...
waesel, you will note every suggestion uses cheese? thats cause there is no un cheesy way to kill kangy, he is inherently cheesy himself, ( unlimited ranged imprisonment? come on!)
so kangy battle is cheese versus cheese, and may the cheesier cheese win!!!

You have to be careful with this tactic since the imprisoned fodder do not actually die so you quickly run out of fodder (the game will only allow you to have 5 at a time.) Kangaxx has quite a few imprisonment spells (actually Magic Jar according to someone at BioWare) so I don't think you can exhaust his spells using fodder alone. It never worked for me anyway.
Resistance to Tyrants is Service to God.
The best non-cheesy way to kill Kangaxx, imo and as nephtu mentioned, is the spell immunity: abjuration on a lead character to absorb the imprisonments, death wards on everyone to protect from the demi-lich howl (wail of the banshee) and several (improved) hasted fighters with +4 or better enchantment weapons just behind the 'lead' character to pound him into dust.
Some good 'early game' weapons are the staff of rhynn, flame tongue (not the sword of flame), melf meteors, carsomyr and the imp. mace of disruption.
For a quick high level option one dragon's breath spell (or at most two) will kill him instantly.
