Interface pains

Post by Mondrin »

After playing PORII and NWN I feel great pain going back to this interface. The thing that bothers me the most (and I can't remember if it was the same in BGII) is the fact that I can't hit a key and highlight all items that I can interact with on the screen. What a pain it is to go over everything with the cursor to make sure I haven't missed that certain container or item or whatever.

I also miss the intelligence of NWN with respects to choosing actions based on the character and the situation (ie. unlocking a chest with the theif without having to go click the thieving skill and then click on the chest/door.)

Some people would consider the "intelligence" of NWN henchman to be a bad thing - Tomi's constant hunt for traps avoiding all else was rather annoying to me.

That being said - I understand where you are coming from. Each game has its strong points and its areas of weakness.

The infinity engine games have their quirks - but the game engine is five years old - so no surprise there. :)

Do you mean like holding down the "alt" key to highlight containers and doors etc? If you do, then you can :)

Funny you should post the answer right after I stumbled upon it. Yes it's the ALT key thing. Seems like it was a different key in the other games....or I've just been playing too much Counter Strike.

Thanks.

Well, Counter Strike and the D&D games are pretty much all I play. D&D games I play once or twice through and then have to wait to get another. Counter Strike goes on forever.....plus my fellow CoFR's are quite fun people to play with. I really should do some Neverwinter Nights with them.....

Needless to say, I'm getting use to the interface again and things are going smoothly. Gotta love these games.
