My constitution is dropping!!!! :o

i dont know wot is happening to me, i started at 18 cons and now i am at 14 and still dropping!!! in the records section my cons is labelled red!!!

Can any one tell me:
1) why this is happening?
2)how long will it it last?
3)Can i replenish it? [or at least stop it?]

my character is a half elf sorceress, starting with hi dexterity an very low strength, i have now got the "the girdle of strength" an that is now at 19

can any one enlighten me?

Well, every time a Familiar dies you lose a point of Constitution. That's the only explaination I can think of.

that would be totally correct, i cant believe this, that flying useless point stealer :mad:

i have gone up a level, and no cons point increase... can increase my cons by other means, or replenish it???

You could always use a cheat to raise it up again, I suppose. But might want to take into account the CON loss with that spell, and not learn Summon Familiar if you play a sorc, in the future. It's a one-shot spell. If you need to use it a second time, you've just lost yourself a CON point.

There aren't any places where you could get more Con points in the game. Sorry.

Familiars

Having a familiar is no problem - have it hop into your pack, where it will be perfectly safe, and bring it out when appropriate. Just talk to it when you want it to climb into your pack.

If you're a sorceror, DO NOT waste a slot on familiar - just cast from a scroll, one time.

That's not entirely true. There's the girdle of fortitude that will set Constitution to 18.

I actually thought of that just now, but it's only while acivated, that your CON will be 18. It does have a long duration, but it's not permanent and there are belts I'd rather have my sorceror wear than that one.

The belt sets your CON to 18 for eight hours. More than enough to last you until your next sleep that is. Remember that you can simply equip the belt once when you wake up, cast the spell, and then switch to another belt.

It is a bit of a pain to remember to use it however. But I wouldn't worry too much about CON for a Sorceror. Anything above 16 is wasted since only Fighters get the added hit points. At 14 your CON is just average so you neither add nor subtract HP. Just play through, enjoy the game, and Keep Your Sorceror Out Of Combat!

i believe that in bg2 mages don't get more than 1 hp per level after 9th level, so the constitution bonus no longer counts.

They get 1 hit die per level up to and including level 10, then from level 11 on they only get 1 hp per level. But I think the belt is retroactive in that you'll see a remarkable rise in HP's, I could be wrong but that's what I remember the one time I actually used that belt.

Every time your con is modified, your hit points are also modified. So if you used the belt, you would get 2hp/lvl up to level 10, thus 20 hit points. The con bonus only applies to levels that have a hit die, not the fixed levels.

Another example of this is draw upon holy might. As a warrior, you can get some extra hit points in addition to lower AC and better to hit and damage.
