Whilst that's true (especially since Shirow vetoed the traditional huge eyes and overlarge heads so often seen in anime), the reason GitS is my favourite movie is largely because it was the first anime I ever saw, and the first movie that really questioned anything, especially something like what it means to be human. I was getting Aus $5 a week allowance back then; the day after I saw it I went out and bought the $30 video.

Even now I rarely watch it for fear of spoiling the experience.

there're DVD versions avaliable for these series. If ya want ya can buy them here - also some GiS stuff i.e telephone card

We recently asked Dark Horse's Lee Dawson for help in filling out our information on Ghost in the Shell 2. We'd previously reported that the manga was coming in October from Dark Horse (see "Ghost in the Shell 2 Due in October"). We'd also reported that Bandai had acquired the US rights for the still uncompleted anime version (see "Bandai Gets TV Ghost in the Shell"). We've since heard from Bandai that Ghost in the Shell will be appearing in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block, and that production on the anime is wrapping up for an October release in Japan. With as much interest as both the manga and anime release are generating in North America, we wanted to get more information on the content and context of the manga. Dawson collected the answers below from the editor, the translator, and other sources.

Latest Installment of Saint Seiya !

Saint Seiya latest installment has arrive for sometime yet I'm surprised none of SYMer make a fuss about it. Perhaps I'm the only Saint Seiya fan here

Anyway Saint Seiya "The Hades Chapter" or some call it "Hades Sanctuary Chapter" is probably the final installment from Saint Seiya saga. The fans rejoice as Masami Kurumada and Toei animation finally reach an agreement to make this Saint Seiya saga. And Toei finally released it on last 3rd quarter of 2002 in OVA !

As most of hardcore Saint Seiya fans already know this chapter is the final chapter of Saint Seiya manga. Which likely being awaited for sooooo long ! The OVA are avaliable on DVD format in most anime on-line store ! Toei animation even have Saint Seiya 2003 Calendar for sale to anticipate the rush of Seiya mania back.

Oh yeah, I saw new anime movie reviewed on a Taiwanese channel. But sadly the channel chinesed the title which literaly give me no idea so far on the real title of the anime

But the trailer shows a bit bizarre story and some nifty quality drawings.

Heh. Hate to tell ya, Kiddo, but I've already seen the movie

Got the Japenese version. Subbed versions are always better then dubbed versions.

The movie itself is pretty good, taking place sometime before the climax of the series. The villian is quite interesting, though I nerver understood his motive. It holds true to the line of stories the series has, so it's kind've neat. I prefered the series finale over the movie though.

I need some opinions on Ah! My Goddess. Is it good, bad? I'm considering getting a copy, but not sure if it's worth my time.

Also, I recommend checking out Love Hina Again, a three episode OAV for the series, which wraps everything up completly.

Rurouni Kenshin AKA Samurai X the TV series

Kenshin saga anime and manga is a master piece of Nobuhiro Watsuki. The manga as we know generally cover more than anime.

Now off with this Rurouni Kenshin (RK). Rurouni Kenshin in japanese means Kenshin the wanderer. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one

. The story basicly a continuance story telling of the life of Himura Kenshin, the infamous Hitokiri battousai - a famed master killer swordman on Bakumatsu era. If you have seen The OVA you probably got idea how Kenshin got his X wound mark on his left cheek.

After Meiji Gov. establised in Japan, Kenshin wanders around Japan. He take oath not to kill anyone again and wield a reverse edge sword (sakabatou in Japanese - it's where the sharp edge and the dull edge switched each other by the swordmaker) In a glance a guy who got long red hair, deep purple eyes, a cross-shape scar on his left cheek... about "this" tall, wears a purple and white kimono seems a weakling, but underneath that look he was the feared Legendary Killer during the Bakumatsu era. The starting episode of RK tells about ten years after the beginning of Meiji era. Kenshin arrive in Tokyo after his travels and meet a girl, Kamiya Kaoru - the sole heir of Kamiya Kashin dojo & Kamiya Kashin-ryu. After helping Kaoru, Kenshin finally decide to stay at Kamiya Kashin dojo (with Kaoru persuasion off sourse) and help our "not so good cook" Kaoru

Story entangled soon after, which literally add some friends and chars on RK. Sagara Sanosuke a brash young man with his huge sword Sanza, Myojin Yahiko (yoshi-boy in some fansubbed), Takani Megumi the only gifted doctor in the Meiji era (so sez the anime), Saito Hajime the lone wolf of Shinsengumi, Shinomori Aoshi & his cheerful but pesky Makamachi Misao from Oniwa-bancho

Now back to RK story...the story line can be divided into several parts :
1. Kenshin arrival to Tokyo and his encounter with Kaoru, Sanosuke, Yahiko, Megumi, Aoshi and his Oni gang
2. The various background eps to anti Meiji movements peaked to return of the lonewolf, Saito Hajime - hidden intention under the challenge. Ended with Kenshin leaves Tokyo and only said goodbyee to Kaoru. Leaving her in tears - love that firefly scene

3. Juppon Katana saga - Kenshin's friends get into their own way to Edo hoping to help Kenshin defeating Shishio Makoto and his Juppo Katana. This is the first time Kenshin encounter with Makamachi Misao who search for Aoshi.
4. Interlude episodes
5. Amakusa Shougo saga. The episodes somewhat related to Christianity oppression in Japan during that time ?
6. Interlude episodes
7. The Black Knights saga. Yutaro, old aquaintance of Kenshin & friends is back as he searches for the fabled miraculous plant which was told to be ingredient of an omnipotent medicine. Black Knights aided with Sanada ninjas try to obtain the plant for their own purpose.
8. Interlude episodes - we can see girls of RK in their rage fight on one episode here

9. Fusui Saga. Another attempt to thwart Meiji gov. This time comes from fraction of Fushui or Feng Shui (in chinese) sect.

Overall RK is fun to watch. Mixed from romance, comedy with hillarious face expression, to intense sword fight scenes. Combined with great soundtracks the producer really take this anime production seriously.

Wow. this was from way back, but, I have in fact seen the anime.

The basic idea behind the story is a pair of women are hired assassin's, which take upon the name of 'NOIR'. This is very signiifcant later in the series, but the name was chosen because of certain aspects the name has carried through the centuries in Europe. The series does not go by slowly, putting you right into the action almost immediatly.

This series does deal with a lot of flash backs, which tend to become repetitive at times, but they are all there to help progress the story. This series has an awesome OST, especially 'Coppolla's Coffin', and 'Salva Nos'.

I would definatly recommend this one

@Kid: Ok, saw you're blurb on Ah! My Goddess. Can't say that it interests me much. To be on the safe side, I watched the first OVA, and wasn't too impressed by the story, or the animation. I think I'll stick with Love Hina and Lodoss for now, or until I can get my hands Stand Alone Complex.

Well, my friend (who actually deals with bringing the stuff in) got a import of the series already (well, 12 episodes of it), so I could probably tell you about within the next couple days if you want. I guess thats just the benefit of being big into anime
