Ascension; Imoen and Sarevok turned on me, leaving TWO people in my party including myself: cleric/ranger and Keldorn. Well, the problem is that I don't have magic users. Imoen's slayer form is quite powerful, so is Sarevok with loads of meat. Then throw in Irenicus and Bodhi, and those red solars.
I had no problem whatsoever up to this point playing Insane. You see, nothing can beat you if you have hasted 12 Planetars and 15 Mordenkainen's Swords. They'll beat the crap out of virtually anything, even in multi-dragon fights... Or, if you know where enemies, such as Illisera, pop out, throw around some 20 Skull Traps (this actually causes a "lag"). Magic resistance? So what? It can't handle TWENTY... I feel somehow justified cheesing becuase I have Ascension AND it's Insane!!!
Anyway, the point is, it's impossible to get past this point. Ugh. The normal version was easy, but... Well, I gave myself and Keldorn about 5 Greater Whirlwinds each, 1 Hardiness, 1 Magic Resistance, and I think that's about it. Hmm, I can't summon anything or even cast heal because I'm always interrupted. I mean, there are two of us! How am I supposed to get by this point? I stocked up 700k gold but that doesn't seem to help.
Help with Final Battle
Helm of Vhailor should make three of you (well, two and a half) with Keldorn. If you didn't have trouble creating a planetar army, then you shouldn't mind using the recharge via the bag of holding trick. After using the helm, drop it into the bag of holding. Take it out and its ready for use again. If you time it correctly you might be able to make mini-me's out of both you and keldorn in the 1st round, with the mini-you's ready to act as soon as they're created. That should buy you some time to drop back and cast something useful.
AG3: That's cheating, not cheesing. The only time I cheated was to speed up Aerie's romance, but then she scared me so I sent her back to the circus
Azim, thanks for the advice but I had trashed Vhailor's Helm a long time ago. I don't want to lower the difficulty just for this part so quit and bought Icewind Dale II at Amazon.
Ah, it's been a great challenge, but it's impossible. Man those guys really beefed up the difficulty... I mean come on, you lose two guys instantly and whatever you've been used to do isn't going to work. That Flail of Ages and Crom Fayr for nothing...!

I guess it could be classified as cheating, but the line between cheese and cheat is sometimes so slim that which is which is in the eye of the beholder. I really don't think there's much of a difference since both are basically doing something your not supposed to be able to, and if Bioware was still releasing patches for this game most of Userunfriendly's cheese guide would be useless. Just offering a fast solution to the Imoen problem...
She turns back to normal once Irenicus bites the dust, so I guess you'll have to concentrate on him and ignore the rest. Easier said than done.
