On Topic Spam Only. The Republic...

This is an experiment to see how the small country of The Tyrant Weasel will evolve.

*Updates to follow. (This post has been updated. Bold is the changes)
**Public debate questions will be posted.

The Republic of The Tyrant Weasel

UN Category: Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Below Average
Economy: Fragile
Political Freedoms: Excellent

Location: SYM

The Republic of The Tyrant Weasel is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its intelligent population of 6 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 41%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Cheese Exports.

Organ donation rates have hit a new low. Crime is relatively low. The Tyrant Weasel's national animal is the goat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the tea bag.

First issue..

The Issue
Hospitals have requested that they be allowed to pay people for donating blood and other bodily organs, such as kidneys.

The Debate

(1)"We remain critically short of blood plasma and various organs," says The Tyrant Weasel One hospital administrator Buy du Pont. "Especially hearts. A good heart is hard to find. But if we were allowed to pay for donations, we'd get more of them and could save more lives. Plus the donor takes home a few hundred tea bags in compensation. Unless it's a post-mortem donation, of course. In that case we'd pay the family."

(2)"Great idea," says social commentator Zeke Winters. "Except for one thing. You know who's going to be selling their organs? Poor people! They'll be so desperate for money that they'll sell their own kidneys. Well, a kidney. This is just another way for the rich to buy themselves a better life at the expense of the poor. It must be outlawed."

(3) Dismiss the whole idea.

QUESTIONS:

1. How can you manage 5 million population in tiny island, and still be environmentally stunning? Can you count?

2. I think below average Civil Rights and excellent Political Freedom can't be achieved together. I don't know how you can say people are actually enjoying social equality under "Tyrant", either. You must be a ....err, weasel. :p

As for the debate, why not not only allow organ donation "post-mortem"?!? Then you'd probably find a way around the downside of "nr 2"...

May I ask....how the governement stands on the Legalisation of Hemp (=cannabis) ?

I might consider relocating ;) .

As for the issue - I'd say pay for BLOOD, and only accept organs post mortem .

1. I'm just the ruler..someone else (my advisor) will need to figure this out. :D

At the moment, it is outlawed. (subject to change once I get the country off the ground) ;)

My thoughts as well, but it seems this option is not avaible. :(

Sadly I didn't get 100% or 99%. :( But I will work with the 10% who voted against me to bring the divide together. (Or kick them out) :D

My advisor asks to remain unknown at this time. He has a family and if the 'unheard' should happen.... (A Coup) and the leading officials strung up on the cherry tree, he doesn't want to join them. ;)

Advisor is not necessarily the second fiddle, especially when the leader is not intelligent nor wise enough to see through the mind behind his advisor. :p

If this is the case then I'm all for allowing the "idea".
I'm sorry Mr Zeke Winters but in my point of view the positive sides outweigh the negative ones. Even if this may benefit "rich" people.

Now then, how many teabags will I get for theese kidneys in excellent condition (minor tear and wear)?!?..... ;)

Great stuff Weasel. I've just created The Rogue Nation of Kayland and moved it to SYM. Image
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

The Free Republic of Espania
"A las Barricadas!"

UN Category: Scandinavian(?) Liberal Paradise
Civil Rights: Excessive
Economy: Developing
Political Freedoms: Average
Location: SYM

The Free Republic of Espania is a tiny, safe nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate population of 5 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal morass -- devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 42%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.

Crime is well under control. Espania's national animal is the cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the pesetas.

And watch the snails go whizzing by, It's foolish but it's fun
