The Horn and Claw of Kazgaroth

Post by Ravor »

Well I finally got around to High Hedge and after buying the Cloak of the Good Arch-Magi I was looking at the rest of the mage's stock and noticed the Horn of Kazgaroth and the Claw of Kazgaroth. Now I was wondering what unlisted damage does and Horn do when you use it and whether people thought that the Claw was worth using? (Also do these two items 'follow' you to BG II?) <Edit: Also does the Horn have Charges?>

Also on a side note, does Kazgaroth actually exist in any other games/books?

Thanks,

Some people think that the Claw is worth it for the AC boost and saving throw vs. spells boost, however, I don't think it's worth the constitution loss and the saving throw vs. death penalty. You encounter too many creatures doing high damage. One problem with this ring is that the effects are dispellable (which shouldn't be) - something I'll get around to fixing, eventually.

Yes, the Horn has charges - it is initially sold with 15 charges, but if you sell & buy it back, it'll have 30. It does 10 points bludgeoning damage each time you use it.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

If you bring the claw with you to BG2, you'll lose the helm of Balduran. All in all, I think the Helm is better.

In BG II are there a set number of items you can bring with you or is this the only item that 'excludes' the other items that you can transfer. (Yes I realize that most of you items are not transferable without cheating.)

There are two sets of items. you can only bring with you 1 item of each set. The game just gives you the mail of the dead and the helm of Balduran if you don't bring any.

Mail of the Dead?

Also, I was wondering what items made up these sets so I could drop some if I had to before winning the game.

Thanks,

Items

AFAIK, the only item the vanilla game LETS you bring is the Golden Pantaloons, and they won't be on your person.

The other available items (like the Helm of Balduran) are in the Beginning Area whether you have them in original BG or not.

Enjoy!
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Thanks,
Mail of the dead = Chainmail +2 or +3 that Ilyich is wearing.

Try searching the BG2 forum for a relevant topic on which items you can bring. I am 400 miles away from my computer right now.

Or just drop everything except the golden pantaloons.
