Hell rewards confusion

Post by Lucian »

it looks to me that the hell rewards isnt permanent..only some you have for the final battle with irenicus.

after i gained the strength bonus by placing the tear i noted it was 2 higher, but marked with red..after placing all tears..getting the bonuses, figthing irenicus and winning...then i looked at the autoexported char with the char wiever..great was my suprise when i saw the bonuses was gone! anyone care to give an explanation?

It appears like interplay/bioware didn't want too much exporting and importing of characters, they thought it might detract from the playing experience. So if this is true there would be no need to have those stats as permanent.

I personally quite enjoy exporting characters and equipment so i am not a great fan of this decision :-|

Hmmm..but for the expansion pack or bg3..it would be useless as the game apearently doesnt save the information on bonuses gained..and you can loose stats...and they get saved! Image

But there is a way to keep your stuff when making a new game at least..so you can waddle around with the black razor Image

just start a mp game with a dummy char..once the game is up...then you can import chars without them losing stuff..if you do it rigth from the start, they will be naked...but still...they should have put in options.. Image

I reimported my character after finishing the game and the rewards from hell were still there.

When my brother finished the game, he started a new game, importing the fighter he had just finished the game with.

During character creation (importing), only the white values showed up, so it appeared as if the bonus gained with the tears was gone. But once he really got into the game, the values were like they were supposed to be, WITH bonus, in red.

The bonuses will stay however you have to export the character during the fight, not just from the saved game/auto exported character.

I did this with my first character through the game (a sorcerer) the imported him into a game that was just past the intro screen so he would keep his equipment.

Running around Irenicus' prison immune to normal and +1 weapons, wielding the Staff of the Magi can give you a god complex.

The rewards do stay after import.

But has anyone else seen a bug in the +2 str reward? I got all the bonuses from having the extra str BUT my maximum weight carrying allowance didn't quite make it. I had 19 str base...(for some reason it went from 18/xx to 19 some time during the game, but I never noticed because I had Belt of ????? Strength equiped at all times)...so after the Test of Wrath I had 21, which should've given me the ability to carry up to 1000 weight units worth of items, but I only had 700.

As for keeping your items, I don't know much about that, I assume that's in multiplayer.

I imported my character from the autoexported "char1". BTW, if you import ftom the "final save" savegame you definately wont get the rewards since you havent used the tears of bhaal yet.
