Alignment Change!?!?!
Alignment Change!?!?!
Hey all,
I just started TOB and i am currently in Saradush (sp?). I have not noticed until now but my alignment has changed within the course of the game from Chaotic Good to Neutral Evil. I have not done anything that would cause a change like that, and i generally play as a good, helping character. Someone please please tell me why this change has occured.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Odds are that you chose one of the bad options durring your tests in hell, at the end of SOA.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
yae.....those tests is the only thing that really can screw around with your alignmentOriginally posted by Zelgadis

I wish they had the whole system a lot more incremental, like PS:T, where alignment changes occurred based on a variety of multiple choice options throughout the game.

Well that really sucks, if i had known that would of changed my alignment i wouldnt of taken black razor or gotten mad at Saervok. Ive only played BG2 as good chars and this is kind of destressing.
Is there any way at all to revert my alignment back to chaotic good? By using shadow keeper or any other means?

Yes there is.... I don't know how as I'm not a big fan of savegame editing tools but it can be done with great ease....check the BG2 refrence thread for a link to get SK or IE or NI

cheese warning....
but hey, just as soon as you see my post, you knew the cheese was on the way, right????
blucher came up with a awesome super cheese...
if you cast spell immunity divination and do the selfish test, you will not lose any attribute points...this makes me think the alignment change is also a spell, and if you can figure out the trigger point or the exact point of alignment change, then casting the right spell immunity should protect you completely from alignment change...hahahahhah......
most likely when you put in the eye from a test...so when i reinstall bg2 and tob, when chloe or imoen mod tob comes out, i shall investigate...this is just cool...i mean cheese is exploiting the game engine, and i really like exploits to baffle the penalties the game imposes for "wrong" choices....hahhahah

@User, I have this image of you as a robed ascetic priest, living in a dilapidated tower, a kind of heysachast, who spends all his time in recondite worship of a giant slice of gorgonzola and writes down his mediations afterwards. Is this close to the truth?
I do have something pertinent (as opposed to impertinent) to add: simply that if the BG2 devs had really wanted to make alignment a matter of importance, they should have factored it into several important "lynch pin" moments during the game. A party that kills Firkraag should get a boost to its goodness rating, and one that knifes the Silver Dragon in her scaly back should slide significantly towards evil. Chaos and lawfulness might be a reflection of reasoning (found in dialog choices) rather than actions, somewhat like Planescape: Torment--where everytime you lied about your name, or chose to do something "good" for other than completely abstract, altruistic reasons, you slid a bit towards chaos.

Yes, with Shadowkeeper - however, this alignment change is applied as an effect, so you'll need to click on the effects tab of your character and delete the appropriate effect.

oh yeah, its an affect....
as usual sojourner has investigated where i have speculated, and of course soj is correct....
what ya need to do is open up the game in sk, and look for the last line of the affects listing, affects are applied in chronological order, and hopefully the description itself should give you the exact affect to delete...
however be warned that messing around with the affects is rather dangerous, you could delete by accident something important, like the inquisitor immunity to hold, for example...
but then again, the spell immunity trick should work....you see, most of the spells in the game, at least the ones with perminent affects will actually add the line in the affects tab....
bluchers cheese should also work for
jahiera curse....
edwin sexchange
and others i cant remember off the top of my head...

yes....since i spend most of my time studying for my ccnp cert, and due to my med condition i am inbetween jobs right now, this is very close to reality...hahhhahahahhahahha

Here is the point of change
I had the same problem. I restarted SoA many times to find the exact point that causes the switch. You can kill the Djinni and take the sword with no change, but as soon as you use that particular Tear of Bhall, your alingment switches. I tried hiding the sword back in the cave, on different NPC's...no change..simply keeping the sword and killing the Djinni is the cause, but its effect doesnt appear until you actually install the tear.

Isn't it possible to steal the Blackrazor, talk to the Djinni without having to fight him, and then use the tear with no alignment penalties?
You could pickpocket Blackrazor, yes. But, Baldurdash fixes that, I believe.

I hear ya...
That alignment change is extremely annoying. On top of that, in doesn't even make sense in some cases: I did all the tests and took the evil path as a Chaotic Evil character and ended up Neutral Evil. Go figure. I have TDD installed, so I tried to cast Conversion on my PC to change the alignment back, and even that didn't work.
