"Get Tales of the Sword Coast"

I second that. Durlag's Tower is by far the greatest dungeon in all the BG series.

Perhaps a spoiler.

But Durlags Tower made dungeons a little bit more then going in, blasting everything to bits and going out.

And ofcourse really, really, really good items.

Eh?
I just got Divine Divinity and I've been playing that, so replaying BG/BGII has been put on the back burner for the time being. I'll be back though. It always works out that way for some reason. There's something about the BG series that just doesn't let people leave, which is NOT a problem, but every once in a while some of need a break.

With TotSC installed I could defeat AecLec last night with my capped at level 10 solo druid. I used Animal Summoning 2 as distraction and fired bullets+2 at the demon. With my strength of 21 (Call upon Holy Might) and Oil of speed I had 2 attacks per round each doing 15-20 damage. Helmet of Baldurian and the Gloves of Weapon Expertise gave me a decent thca0 so I hit the demon quite often.

My stats:

STR 19
DEX 19
CON 16
INT 10
WIS 20
CHR 16

The game allowed me to use the ankheg armor so I my AC was -5 with Helmet and Cloak of Baldur.
One problem was to get the manual of strength from the undercellar of Candlekeep. The solution was the red potion from the Nashkell Carnival. It gave me 25 strength for one day (DEX and INT 3) so my druid could bash the treasure chest.
A weapon I really appreciated were the darts of stunning which saved my life in the fight against the dwarven warders and the demonknight.

Now I'm heading to defeat Sarevok and his minions.

Zowie..

Congratulations!

Helmets off to you :)

I would think the AecLetec fight significantly naster solo than the Sarevok fight, really. But let us know.

also, you can get a sling +3 ...
Getting the Sling + 3 would be a problem, because as a solo druid you have to bash the chest which requires a strength greater than 21 (which is the highest I think you can legally get with a solo druid: base strength of 19 plus 2 with the bhaalspawn ability Call upon holy might, because pure druids can't use potions of giant strength).

One way would be to sacrifice the Tomes of strength and wisdom to get the sling with the red potion I mentioned earlier.

Not really - all you need to do is pick off the cultists from the corners, then slurp a potion of Mirrored Eyes to protect yourself from his gaze attacks. After that, you go toe to toe if you're a fighter, backstab if you're a thief, or summon help if you're one of the other classes and pelt him with missile weapons. Cloudkill is effective against him, too. Sarevok is more difficult because of the traps and his very potent help.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

I knew there had to be a potion to use agianst AecLetec. Khalid always dies atleast 5 times before I could kill him.......... I grew to hate that "dying" sign  , oh well. Atleast now I'm a better tactitian in BG2......

Well, that's cool...

Taking down the cultists fast was hard enough with a group - I thought it would be a beast solo. Sarevok I figured would be easy enough because his help can be so easily split.

However, I have never played a solo game terribly far, so thanks for the enlightenment.

Yeahhh,
my solo druid defeated Sarevok. Actually I found the fight harder than AecLetec. I needed 3 tries to get Sarevok down. I started with protection of fire and lightning and drank oil of speed. The first I had to deal with was Semaj (at this time I was out of view from Sarevok, Tazok and Angelo). I quickly summoned animals II and threw darts of stunning at Semaj. Darts are very good to deal with the mirror images (with oil of speed I had 6 attacks per round). Finally one dart got through and he was stunned, easy meat for my animals. Now to the easy part with Tazok, Sarevok and two Battle Horrors. First I tried to stun Tazok with the rest of my darts but he always made his saving throws. Tazok and Sarevok did easily kill all my nice teddybears :-(. So I had to run like hell. Luckily I stayed out of view from Angelo who always casts dispel magic. Back to the fight, now it was time to use my cheesy necklace of missiles to get rid of the battle horrors. Three shots and they were toasted. Now I had a little time to summon some further teddybear assistance. I switched to my sling+1 and shot bullets+2 at Tazok. Because he was always hurt by the necklace of missiles (I noticed that Tazok had a really high fire resistance, the necklace did only 4-6 damage to him), he fell after 5 or 6 hits.
Now to Sarevok, 3 of my teddys were still alive so I didn't need to run. I cast Defensive Harmony to lower the AC of my teddys so they could stand a little longer against Sarevok. Then I cast Call upon Holy Might, drank a potion of power and filled him with bullets+2. 15 or 20 hits later he died.
Soloing with a druid isn't so hard when you know where the good stuff is. I tried to use the ring of invisibility and the necklace of missiles only in emergency situations, so I used the ring maybe 4 times and the necklace 25 times (the house with the battle horrors, helmet alps and invisible stalkers was really nasty, I think I used the necklace 10 times to get rid of two or three enemies).
I started with proficiencies in missile weapons and short swords (to get thac0 bonuses with the spell flaming sword). Spells I used most in the beginning were Charm Person, Flaming Sword, Entangle. Later outdoors of course Call Lightning and Animal Summoning I and II. I used the combination of Animal Summoning, Defensive Harmony and Bless a lot.
Miscast Magic helped me against Neira, Mulahey and Nimbul.
Ankheg Armor and Boots of Avoidance was a must in the fight against Bassilius.
In the fight at the entrance of the cloakwood mine I charmed the first guy and then summoned animals II. I think there I reached level 10. Then with boots of speed fights were a lot easier. After the cloakwood mines I headed to Ulgoth Beard to buy the Wand of Heavens, the Staff+3, the Ring of Invisibility and the Cloak of Displacement. First I thought about buying the Claw of Kazgaroth, but I decided against it, because I found it annoying, that a dispel magic made it useless until I went to a temple to get the claw removed and then equip it again.
What I missed most was the ability to dispel magic, as a fighter, thief or bard you could use arrows of dispelling and priests and mages got the spell. As druid I had to hide until the spell went off or rely on my summonings. Another thing where druids fail is opening locks so they can't get several items like the sling+3 or the buckler+1 from DT.
After all I think that every class with the right equipment can solo through BG and TotSC.
