The Empire of A Masquerade
Archmage's descision:
The Issue
While effusively praising A Masquerade's leadership and bowing repeatedly, a delegation has humbly requested that the government take a more "modernistic" view in the future.
The Debate
The High Minister for Finance, who also happens to be your brother, dismisses the claim. "What these people fail to realize is that you know what's best for them. The alternative is anarchy! I say stick to your course. And execute these wackos for treason."
This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.
"Perhaps the people could be given some more political freedoms," muses your Chief of Staff, who is your sister. "Is there really such harm in allowing public discussion of ideas? We could even have a real Opposition Party. One that isn't just full of your puppets, I mean."
[Accept]
The Government Position
The government has indicated its intention to follow the recommendations of Option 1.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,

The people of Fablicious had better pray that the esteemed Archduke of Kayland doesn't look up "perfidies" in the dictionary, lest he discern your meaning and become vexed...

Kayland has the forth-largest army and no crime whatsoever. We also have lots of beef (it's what's for dinner).

The Empire of Tropicalis
"Nature conservation today will grant life tomorrow"
UN Category: Compulsory Consumerist State
Civil Rights: Below Average
Economy: Thriving
Political Freedoms: Outlawed
Location: SYM
The Empire of Tropicalis is a small, devout nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 14 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.
The enormous, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 23%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Gambling.
Genetic researchers have been expelled, nudity is frowned upon, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is moderate. Tropicalis's national animal is the macaw, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the parrotali.

We of Fablicious laugh derisively and spray breadcrumbs all over your all-pervasive police force! If crime is totally unknown in Kayland, then how can this be true "especially" of any age group? Your propaganda smells as bad as your decaying frogs, which have no trees left to hide among. Keep well away from our borders, you inbred, token-craving madmen, or the dedicated army of housecats that protect Fablicious will decry your presence and descend upon you with instinct savagery!Originally posted by Kayless

Simple. There is no crime and young people don't even think about crimes.

You know, the beef industry in Kayland has been a little down recently. I wonder if things would improve if we switched to cat burgers instead...

I dribble coconut milk out of my nostrils all over your contemptuous threats! It will take a hundred of your troops to even subdue one of Fablicious' determined and agile housecats, guardians of the law, and defenders of the free and the pleasure-addled!
This is one of your former tree frogs. As you can see, he is now quite happy in Fablicious. He sends his regards, and says to give up your pursuit of rancid dreams of conquest. I think you should listen to him!

I think not. All of our troops carry a water pistol in addition to their standard armament. Against such a watery onslaught your feline forces will flee and victory will be swift for Kayland.

A former tree frog? MY GOD! Where's his body?! You decapitated him you fiend! Your sick, twisted nation must be stopped! Kayland calls for all countries opposed to mutilating little animals to rally behind us and put an end to the evil Fablicians (and Gwaltopia too, while we're at it).

We of Tropicalis, and our 30th best army of SYM with our barely-armed militia groups can stand behind you if you need us. We have our casual supply of rifles, which should supply half of our militia, but beyond that we have pointed sticks and slingshots for the rest.
Though I prefer peaceful means over war-like means.

1-What is the meaning of this? You seem to crave an alliance with an environment-friendly nation, yet in the regional news, we find your nation falls quite short of the environmental satisfaction quota. Something I am VERY disappointed in. Im not sure I could hold an alliance with a wasteful country such as yours.
2-Whats to stop you from pulling out from the war just as soon as our militia groups get slaughtered and in need of crucial backup?
3-Are you just trying to get a discount on our chicken?

Uhhhhh.... Errr...... Ummm... *confers with senior staff* Ahem, as I said before, I thought our frogs would be happier in ponds. It was a tragedy but we are working to rectify matters (damn drain on resources, sucking up money that could go to the military).

We would never run! We love war! Besides, our armies are many times larger than most nations and capable of crushing most opposition by themselves. Tropicalis' presence just helps legitimize our conquest.

Unscrupulous and hypocritical villain: you dare to claim that the ever-vigilant housecats of Fablicious would do such a thing? We found the poor disembodied head of that treefrog where it lay, thrown past our border...! He claimed he was an agent of yours but had come to love our forests and refused to set them ablaze as directed; and that he had been betrayed by his fellow amphibians in your employ, who were promised all the chickens they wished to mate with! We quickly hooked up that head to life support systems. (This possible in Fablicious because there is none of that terrible bureaucracy that would have cost him his life in Kayland--assuming your ruthless, predatorial machine of state had let him live so long.)
Here he is, once more. As you can see, the emerald has returned to those withered cheeks, and he is about as happy as a virtually disembodied frog can be.
Your pernicious psychopathy stinks to the pure clouds of Fablicious' tropical paradise, and beyond! I shall cast about for allies, and need no spokesperson more eloquent than your own eco-destruction, or the mute terror of your own people, who cower behind darkened doors and tremble each night! You shall yet know the conclusion of that dastardly path you slink along, and the unmarked grave that lies at its vile conclusion!
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Any and all assistance upon such a noble cause will be rewarded for a free palm tree and any housecat that cares to accompany you back to your nourishing and plentiful domain. Let it never be said that Fablicious is insensitive to the interests of its feline inhabitants, whether it be for food, litter, or playtoys!

The first answer leaves a bit to be desired. Ill tell you what. If your nation can fix the tragedy of lost frogs, you will have 100% of our sub-par army force as backup to your nation.
But until the population replenishes itself without going down the drain again, Im afraid I cannot support you militarily. I WILL continue to allow you to have access to a defined amount of our resources though. How does that work for you?

The Free Republic of Bloodonya is a small, socially progressive nation, notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 16 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Commerce. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Woodchip Exports industries.
Bloodonya's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is crippling. Bloodonya's national animal is the wolverine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the kroog.
