Hey everyone (long time no post!)
Hope everyone is good and dandy btw
I've also had a bit of a problem choosing between yeslick and Jaheira, but I decided on Yeslick cause he looked cute.
However, when I tried to take on Daeveron on the 4th level of the cloakwood mines, i found it really hard, and no matter what I did I couldn't beat those bloody guards he has.
So, I decided that I would go to a few places that I hadnt been already, to boost up some exerience. And Yeslick had died during a battle in the mines with some magic-yielding wench and some hobogoblins. So I went back to Nashkel, and had Yeslick resurected. When he was back to life he did his first warning thing , saying that we ought to get back to the mines and flood it all. However, because I thought I needed that experience to be able to get a little further, I went to Ulcaster. (where I hadn't been) and finished up in there. However, when I was travelling back to the Cloakwood mines, yeslick turned psycho on me!!
he kept giving his leaving speech. ( you know, the whole "good luck friends, bash some heads in for me" or something )
and then, he would follow me asthough he was in my group, and then say "so, you've returned" etc, and ask whether I would want to join or not. If I said no, he would persist to follow me and ask me again. If I said yes, he would give the leaving speech again, and then ask to join!!!
It's pretty confusing to read Im sure. Basically, he turned into Neeber/Noober, and followed me with dialogue every couple of seconds. Which makes gameplay impossible
I want him back And I think it may be a bug, have any of you had any similar problems ? If so, are there any patches for this kind of thing ?
Also, i kept reloading and restarting my machine and it kept happening again. Have I just taken too long ?
thankyou

if you ask a glass of water how it's feeling, you're delerious.
Well if you can just try to go to the mines and kill Daveorn...... there should be plenty of tips and tricks in this forum to help you beat him even at low levels....... also the is for sure some hlp to be had on Gamebanshee.

Eep..
That's a funky bug with Yeslick. If I were you, I'd revert to a save and retry the Cloakwood mines as a first order. The guards, IIRC, are suckers for Chromatic Orb stuns & standard anti-mage strategies will apply for Daevoron. If you have specific fight problems, I'm sure people will be happy to help if they can.
One quick query - are you referring to the front end guards or the ones summoned by the trap?

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

The guards are only summond if you trip a trap, I know that doomguards give you a nice 4000 exp. but I think it's a little hard to try it at a low level (trust me, at level 8, those guys are breezes)
As for the yeslick bug, I would back up the savegames, and re-install, the problem is hardly ever in the savegame (unless you've used SK in a weird way)

thanks everyone,
yes, I meant the guards set off by the trap. However, through perservering, I decided, duh! get imoen to disarm the traps So Daveron wasnt hard by himself.
That exp is tempting, but my group dont seem to have high enough levels it's a vicious circle.
With Yeslick, I found a save game BEFORE he started messing up, and got rid of him from my group. I took Jaheira back, did some more tasks at other places for some more exp, then came back and swapped Jaheira for Yeslick again. It seems he was reset as to his time limit to sort out the mines.
Since I have cleared the cloakwood mines everything has been fine.
thanks

Do you know the cave in the lighthouse sector?
Well a little tip if you want to gain some exp you can: (highlight)
Rest in the cave, there's a 90% chance of being ambushed by fleshgolems, they aren't that hard to beat if you've got plus 1 weapons and give you 2000 exp. Also, BG there is a Basilisk in the dock sector that gives you 7000 exp.
