Problems in the Ice Temple

Post by xerties »

I've been wandering around the ice temple for a while now and I can't seem to find anybody else to kill. I fought all three of the mistresses and I got rid of the Al-whatisit guy, but it still says that I need to kill one of them, I think its Oria, but she never turned into the ethereal form, so I'm kinda stuck. If someone could tell me her creature number so I could just spawn and kill her, that would be good. Any help, actually, would be great. Thanks.

Have you tried altering the Battle Room to the right settings to see her?

Re:

The way I understand it when you kill Oria, she breaks her staff and then she comes back and none of your weapons can hit her. Then you have to go to the battle squares room and turn on the Inner Sanctum mode to fight her. Well, when I fought her, she broke her staff, but never came back. I've wandered around the Ice Temple with the Inner Sanctum mode on, but I can't seem to find her, and since I haven't fully killed her, the game won't let me tell Nathaniel that I have, so I can't leave. I suppose if someone knew her creature number, then I could just spawn her and kill her with the ctrltab:createcreature cheat. Any help is welcome. Thanks.

@Xerties, once you have turned the inner sanctum mode on you have to set the other switch to battle, then she will appear on the battle squares (or round about) :)

I have thesame problem and cannot switch to battle mode once ethereal - the switches are not toucheable anymore. If not ethereal battle mode cannot be activated any more. I have installed the patch and am running XP.

Once you have set the one lever to inner sanctum, how many times have you used the second lever? Sometimes the combinations re-set.

Re:

Ok, this is what I do...I've switched the mode to Inner Sanctum, then I activate it, immediatly after activating Inner Sanctum (while I'm being flashed by the blue energy thing) I click on the mode selector and the Ice Golum says 'Battle Mode Selected' but when I click on the activator switch again it just takes me out of Inner Sanctum mode. And if I try to activate Battle Squares when not in Inner Sanctum it says 'Mode currently under development'. So, I don't know what's going on there....

Hmmm...this is a little confusing.

Ok, you have a lever that chooses between 3 modes:

Battle squares (or)
Inner Sanctum (or)
Repairs

Then you have a second lever that confirms that selection.

Set the first lever until it says inner sanctum, then click on the second lever. You don't need to touch the first lever again as this will reset your selection.

Is this what you have done? :) You only select each lever once.

If you have the blue energy surrounding you, you are ready to battle Oria...you don't need to touch the switches again.

Reading your posts, if I am understanding you right, it sounds like a bug. When I took my party to Oria's room, I left one member by the levers in the battle square room ready to react when she turned ethereal. As soon as her staff broke, I had my character operate the two levers. Oria appeared in the battle square room and started to attack the character that had activated the levers...

btw, the selection that states 'Mode currently under development' relates to the repair mode, which is only necessary under certain circumstances unrelated to the battle with Oria :)

nah. it relates to modes that cannot be activated.

ok, for me:

- fight Oria 'till she uses her wand
- go to battle room
- switch to ethereal mode (as confirmed by golem)
- no Oria to be seen
- switches cannot be operated in ethereal mode (no "ring" symbol)
- if going back to non-ethereal, battle mode can not be activated any more ("mode currently under development" message), even though it worked earlier.

I am sure it is a bug, but I have not heard back from them yet

cheers

Re

I finally got some help on another forum. If anybody else is having this problem you can cheat around it by going into the cheat console and typing
ctrlaltdelete:SetGlobal("ORIAESSENCE_DEAD","GLOBAL",1)

Hope that helps
