This is decision you would reallly have to make for yourself as it is your story! :D

You will get a lot of recommendations with a question like this! If you have a look in the downloads section of this board there is a file called "Riverwinds Guide To Character Classes"

I suggest you give it a go - it is very informative! :D

This all depends on what kind of Fighter you want. It seems as though you haven't played D&D before, which is fine. Choosing a warrior type class is a wise choice since they are a little easier to run. Those are: Fighter, Paladin, or Ranger. Look on this site for explanations of each and what they can do for you. As far as race goes, do the same, look into each of the races. If you are going for a pure fighter, Human, or Dwarf, even Half-Elves are good choices. Elf Ranger would be excellent too.

Bottom line is, do a little research and see what you want to 'Role-Play'.

You read it already?!? :D

There were over 40 pages - it took me ages!!!
(actually the deciding took me ages!)

Having never played a fighter I couldn't say from personal opinion.

From postings I have read, favorites seem to be Berserker, Monk and Undead Hunter.

Of those, I personally would take Undead Hunter - he has some cool immunities. You can pick up a couple of NPC berserkers in Minsc and Korgan if you wish. Just my opinion though! ;)

You know, it depends on you. What you like to do. That's the whole deal. If u wanna be a druid, go ahead. It's up to you, my friend. My first class was Archer because I wanted to be Robin Hood :D :D :D
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

The only class I'd suggest you DON'T take for your first time playing would be a straight Mage, or Sorceror. They are very powerful at high levels, but are more difficult to keep alive early in the game. All the classes will now gain amazing high level abilities, so you can't choose wrong...

Just compare the pros and cons. I played a Cavilier and adored his benifits. He also seemed to fit my playing style. Just play a char who you would think of yourself as. If you see yourself fighting evil (inquisitor) or going berserk everytime you see someone who's too tough (berserker) or even being a barehanded killer monk that's your decison.

I particularly saw myself slaying dragons and demons. I thought it was real fun to do what your character does best. Well, good luck and enjoy the game.

You want my opinion, you got it!

If you're playing a fighter, I reccomend the berserker kit. The berserker's enrage ability is excellent. Offering complete protection from most mind spells, including imprisonment (something you will find very annoying later on)

If you're playing a ranger, I reccomend the Archer kit. The complete ranged character package. Awesome with a good short/long bow. I reccomend short just becuase the two best bows (tuigan and gessen) are short bows.

If you're playing a paladin, I reccomend the Cavalier kit. Dragonslayer. While I don't particularly adore paladins the cavalier is IMO the best kit for the job

Exactly what mine is, an Elf Ranger/Archer. They are great. Elves get +1 to hit with long bows and long swords. make sure you up his DEX to 19 when you roll him.

I took a Ranger through BG1 and gave her a Stalker kit in BG2. High dex is important... :)
