I screwed up and have to fight Golems in Underdark - Help

I screwed up and have to fight the 4 Iron Golems at the beginning of Underdark. Any helpful hints? I've been getting the crap beat out of me trying to take these guys on. Any strats that would be helpful?

I got bored with my party and trying to win that battle with summoned beasts so I started over. I didn't have any +3 weapons whatsoever. Not even any +3 arrows, so I moved on (or back as the case may be).

Went with a Paladin as my primary character who keeps screwing me out of coin. I may start over yet again. Not sure yet...

Don`t fight the golems just run out of there.

Use another character than that paladin to talk to people. At least when you are collecting your reward.

If I engage the golems and then run back out they won't be there the next time I go back?

Doesn't matter anyway. I started over and am already to the Goblin Warrens and did a bunch of the little things I missed the first time around, so I'm much farther along. I just got the Fireball Scroll and can't wait to start vaporizing groups of critters with is. Aren't mass damage spells great?

As far as the Paladin. I've had to reload a couple of times because I forgot and had him talk to Ulbrec after finishing a mission. I think I'm going to switch my Dwarf Fighter to the lead character. He has absolutely no problem accepting gobs of cash from those gracious enough to give it to me....
