Late NPC joining

Here's the thing. I want to have Imoen in my party - replacing Jan but getting her is a bit late - and I wanna do the basic quests 1st (Sphere , Ar Keep, both dragons etc.) I believe the level of joining npc is somehow calculated when joining the party but I'm not sure to what extent.

Anyone knows if Imoen won't be like totally outclassed with levels by the rest of my party ? I already saved some nice xp instant upgrades (Motaron - bird still in my inv , gotta talk to Hendak to complete the slaver quest for a hefty bonus etc.)
I 'd like to know if I should perhaps screw the Keep, Sphere quests unitl I get Imoen (that would suck - flail is more then useful)

Sure I can level her in a 2 ppl party with scrolls but that's a bit cheesy. But if I would like to complete rest of the quests my chars would end up at about level 12-3 and I don't think Imoen would be at l 10 even.

Any expert advice on this ? Should I save all the xp till I get her or do my thing and then babysit her later ?

immie will be at the same level as when she left...

have you played her thru before??? jan is actually much more usefull...more spells, better thief...but i like immie a lot, and i always keep her...

You see that's the thing - I never used Imoen and completed the game like 3 times. So I thought I could finally see what sis is capable of. I only had her once for the 1st time (Yoshi thing - needed a thief o_o

and only in SoA.
Now I wanna get her all the way thru ToB as well.

And yea - Jan is the best thief in the game - I considered him a must in most of my set ups.

O think she will have 1 200 000 XP at most. So try and get there early if you don't want her to be to far behind.
