Solo question about Archer

Post by Jakub »

Who soloed with Archer? is there any description or how that person did it?

Soloing with Sorcerer seems to be not that hard - once you collect all that necessary stuff.

How Archer can kill mages? It takes time for him to get rid of them - enough time so that they can cast some nasty spells

I have tried and failed/given up. Failure when soloing through bg2 always equals giving up :D

I would assume that Paladin (undead hunter) would have higher chances than Archer - personally I really like Archer kit so it would be much more fun to pay - provided that it is possible

I will ask again - what about mages? How Archer can get rid off them?

If you are hidden you will fire the first shot in battle. Shoot the mage first, preferably with arrows or bolts of biting so they might keep taking damage. If the have stoneskin use arrows of fire, if the cast prot from magical weapons and normal missiles...run away and hide for a few rounds. Short bow of Gesen really helps.

Good points - I didn't think of it
There are some cases when you approach hidden - mages cast true seeing - what than (there is a cloak of non-detection) can it help against true seeing?

Yes that cloak is essential. It will prevent true sight from detecting your hidden archer.

Sorry for that, but one more question, about bows

with normal arrow how much long and short bows do the damage
I've in manula that both do 1-8 but on this forum there was something that short bow deals 1-6 and long 1-8 of damage - what is correct?

The only difference is in the range of the bows, which doesn't matter since range is limited by the screen anyway. Shortbows are better in bg2 I would say, from a powergaming point of view that is.

a good way for fighting mages with an arches is to load REGULAR arrows/bolts on a weapon that does some elemental damage, such as Gesen Shortbow, Firetooth Crossbow, Crossbow of Searing. the hits by a weapon cont as non-magical, thus they penetrate "Prot. from Magical Weapons", and the elemental damage will penetrate Stoneskin. The problems start with "Protection from normal missiles"...

Install Weimer's ease of use mod to get infinite stacking. However much you might care about roleplaying, you will have to carry a lot of arrows and without stacking it will be an extreme pain in the butt.

Don't give up, it's challenging but not impossible.

and dont forget the guard button and called shot...

summon a goblin via wand of monster summon, cast farsight, so you can see in...then open door, shove goblin or mordy sword or skelly, then close door...guard the summon, and you can shoot thru walls...

called shot at high levels can attribute drain per hit...use with good bow, and imp haste to kill dragons quickly....
They call me Darth...

Of course there's always the wizard slayer style archer, though I'm not sure if the spell failure applies with the bow...

Unfortunately wizardslayer bonuses don't apply when using bows...also spell failure doesn't effect clerics, only mages and only for a short time.
Wizardslayers are not as bad in ToB as they were in SoA.

Dam right. Even in SoA you could make short work of Irenicus on your own.

Bah!

Wizard slayers aren't THAT bad in SoA.

My first SoA character was a wizard slayer, and he did ok, considering I GMed him in Long Swords at the start - doh!
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

If you've got ToB installed pick up the belt of ammo in Wizards keep. It's really quite easy as soon as you've got boots of speed. To wizards the same cheese goes for any cheese you'd use when soloing. I just found it a bit to limited to be fun though.

Yes, here.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
