How do you remove item level restrictions?

Post by Kresselack »

Aside from cheating, is there any option in the Toolset that allows you to remove item level restrictions on items you have created?

Using the .ini code is not necessarily cheating in my opinion, if a King gave you a weapon for saving his kingdom, you'd damn sure use it, no? The idea of level restriction, is, in my view, useless. Because a weapon is powerful, doesn't mean that it stops people from using it.

If you want to use the .ini method of removing restriction, do this:

Go to your Neverwinter Nights install directory > Go to file labelled "nwnplayer.ini" > Open file in notepad or similar > Locate heading "Game Option" > Find the line "Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=1" > Change the number 1 to 0.

That should solve the problem.

I asked this exact question at the official boards the other day. Their short answer was no. I'd recommend shutting off level restrictions then just not using things if you wanna still follow them.

I would have to agree with Nippy, if the tools are there - use them. Nothing's more frustrating then crafting a decent (not-Godlike) weapon, but you can't use it because you're "only" level 20. Just about every weapon I've given more than 2 attributes to defaults to level 23-25 required.

Also, if you don't have thieving skills, and don't feel like bringing Tomi or Sharwyn, it can help to have a weapon that easily smashes open chests. This is the main reason I tinkered with the item level restrictions.
