6th member+B/C question

Here's a question for you cause I can't decide. With TDD, Solaufein, and Valen installed as playable NPC's (so including those new NPC's), who would you add to this party:

Berserker/Cleric
Mazzy
Valygar
Aerie
Yoshimo to Imoen

Also, what level is good for dualing a berserker to cleric?

Funky party...

Well, add whoever you like, but let's analyse this somewhat functionally. You've got a melee heavy party - I'd go for either
a) some arcane power - Edwin, Jan, Kelsey, Nalia or Tashia. Edwin hacked to sorcerer is sooo cool.
OR
b) just go super melee - add Haer'Dalis, Keldorn, Korgan or Minsc. I'd probably pick Keldorn for all those cool inquisitor abilities and some cheesy goodness with Carsomyr

On the berserker - well, you get rages every 4 levels and weapons proficiencies every 3, so 8, 9 and 12 are all obvious levels to dual at. It's a balance of the extra rage and/or proficiency(ies) vs. the earlier recovery of your first classes abilities. Personally, having dualed a Kensai twice, I'd go with 9 myself, but YMMV

I wanna try some of the new NPCs since I just installed them all, so I think I'm gonna go with the archer (Kivan I think). Also, I'm gonna dual at either 12 or 13 cause I want him as a tank first, cleric second (mainly buffing). What do you get on level 13 over level 12?

I don't think there's much of a difference between lvl. 12 and 13 other than THAC0 (since at level 12 you get a weapon proficiency I think).

Can't comment on TDD NPCs, as I've never played them. As I said, please yourself in who you pick.

As far as I'm aware, what you get for dualing your berserker at 13 instead of 12 is....3 HP (+ applicable Con bonus over 16)Seems pretty marginal to me for 250K XP.

The big question you need to ask about when to dual is: is the extra 750K XP between 9 & 12 and the extra time in latency before you regain your berserker abilities worth the THAC0 bonus, one proficiency, one rage and a few HPs? Your call.

Also, if you plan on this character tanking, you may be better off with a multi-class (no berserker abilities unless you hack them in) - although the real benefit really only kicks in with ToB, when you can get HLAs for both - summon Deva AND Greater Whirlwind, yay!

13th level as a warrior gives you an extra 1/2 attack per round. Without an appropriate mod, this is the most number of attacks you can get. 1/2 at level 7 and 1/2 at level 13, for a total of 1 extra attack per round. It may seem like a little, but it really helps.

Oh, now I get it :eek: Well, that makes sense of the argument for 13, though needing level 14 to get back to business...ouch.

Go for Jaheira or Cernd, so that you get some Druid Spells in your party.

I wouldn't use Valen if I were you... you can't use turn undead while she's around or you'll fry her (especially while she's of a low level)
