I would like to know if anyone has been experiencing problems with the game since installing ToB. I have been having problems like:
1)The game kicking me out and exiting to windows. It has happend ALOT since installing ToB. I would say 7 or 8 times.
2)When I go to a new area the game freezes for 4 or 5 seconds before I can move my guys.
My brother also got ToB and he has been having similar problems.

I have, but I assumed it was the load times due not doing a full install. The game appears slower and in way kinda choppy at times, but after shutting off footstep sounds it actually performed better. Try doing a full install, it may help...Originally posted by Mr. Clark:

I have had both problems...I think the pause when entering areas is due to another script kicking in, kind of like Baldur.bcs, but some thing added above that...(Ie another whole script for TOB.
Also I have had the *Ping* sound then get booted out of the game (seems like an assertions error) ...I am thinking some of my problems are due to the fact that I am using my slow machine as it had my original SOA game on it. Its 200 MHZ with 64 ram and win 98. I will probably install TOB on my 750 MHZ with 256 ram and win 98 just to see if that helps any...I didnt feel like waiting to reinstall SOA on my other computer cause I couldnt wait to see TOB...And SOA runs fine on my 200 mhz computer cause I have about 96% free resources...
I will let you know what I find out, if my reinstall on my other computer does not fix these problems I will delve deeper into it...

I got this off the bioware site. I'm not too sure if this is your problem.
Random crashes with a VIA chipset motherboard (Back to Known Issues list)
There have been many reports of random crashing or crashing with the movies with owners of Intel VIA chipset motherboards. Please note: This issue does not apply to AMD systems. For most users, there is a BIOS update available from your motherboard manufacturer that will solve this problem. If you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard, you have to make an adjustment in your BIOS settings. Go to the setting for "CPU IOQ" and make sure the value is set to 1 and not higher. Another solution for some, has been to adjust the AGP mutiplier setting so that the card cannot use faster than 1X speeds. For BIOS updates, you should check with your motherboard manufacturer first before going directly to VIA.
Another solution has been to reinstall the VIA 4-in-1 drivers in "standard" mode as opposed to "turbo" mode.
Here is the VIA driver page: http://www.via.com.tw/jsp/en/dr/driver.jsp
There have been reports of the latest BIOS from Tyan removes the "CPU IOQ" setting and therefore eliminates your ability to change the setting.
If you have a Micron computer, BIOS updates are available here: http://support.micronpc.com/Apps/specdriv.asp?Hub=MBD001125-xx&Include=
If you have an Asus P3V4X motherboard (or have more interest in the IOQ setting), there is some information at: http://www.netspace.net.au/~jesse/p3v4x/faq.html
If you are unable to resolve the issue of crashing during the movies, you will have do disable movies in the game by editing your baldur.ini file. Go the the section labled "Program Options" and add a line saying "Disable Movies=1" anywhere in that section. All plot advancement is done through in-game cutscenes so you will not miss any plot points by disabling the movies.
