Whats the best Game Series?

Post by RandomThug »

I was just checking out some new pictures of the new Castlevania and started thinking about how long that game has been around. How many reincarnations, how many twisted versions, how many bad ideas and good have come from one storyline (basically).

I started thinking about what the most memorable and well used (for a storyline over several games) Storyline.

Is it Castlevania, Mario, Sonic, Resident evil, Metal gear...

Its a hard judge because I dont personally think the Mario story has changed at all, so thats out. Sonic has never apealed to me storywise...

Shinning force comes to mind but doesn't hit it...

I'd have to say Zelda. For some reason I am always overly excited on new zelda's and I know the whole story in and out with every incarnation that comes out new I at least learn the story.

Yeah Links the man..

Oh I forgot about Megaman... I played the hell out of that but since then its gotten kinda out of hand..

Also I dont consider final fantasy in this topic since I am DEFINITLY a ff fanboy yet the games dont have a continuing storyline ...

btw American release ff2 is the best one.

probably the final fantasy series, plot continuity be damned.

although I'm quite fond of the metroid and castlevania styles of game. metal gear series too (although the gameplay in the early ones was pretty poor). megaman, though cool, doesn't cut it with me. often frustrating, and the newer franchise cash-ins suck with a vengance.

I'm just going to repeat some of the stuff said above:
[edit] and add a new one

- Zelda
- Final Fantasy (Ok, it doesn't have a continues storyline, but the continuingtory from the Zelda Games is also very hard to look for)
- Super Mario (A classic, I remember I was so excited when SMB3 came out)
- Command & Conquer (I've played every game of them, and liked them all)

Ouch ! Not Street Fighter :( The game story seems hopping around every game CApcom release, more over SF players notoriously known as "Hadouken & Jump kick then crouch jump abuser" :( "King of Fighters" from Neo Geo got better story line that is till KOF 1999, story kinda forced a bit to stretch game franchise - but the game play are better than SF since Neo Geo games require combo based than jump in and kick :D

BG series are good yet there are other games which got better story line ;)

Money Island ? :p :D I'm sure you mean Monkey Island the stupidity of Guybrush Treepwood are priceless - which makes me play keep buying the game :D
I'm not dead yet :D :p

That would be...

... last year's NBA Western Conference Finals between the L.A. Lakers and Sacramento Kings won by LA at Arco Arena. The series went 7 games with the Kings supposedly enjoying homecourt advantage. Game 7 was a down to the wire one with Robert Horry putting the dagger to the chest...

...oooppppss... wrong game series... :o :D

...Baldur's Gate then.
