The guy in the Trademeet tavern...

Post by Beardboy »

OK after going into the Trademeet tavern, there's this guy in there who says something like "No! Not another child of Bhaal!", and then gets blasted by some magic out of nowhere, gets knocked out and gets teleported away.

After completing the game I realised that I never saw him after that encounter. So my question is, have I done something wrong, or are you actually supposed to never see him again? Who was he?

Thanks.

I've had this happen. But if you keep your main char back at the door when you come in and use one of your NPC to talk to him he doesn't get stuck.I couldn't get no quest out of him even doing this.Might be a bug like in the graveyard when you cast detect evil and the name Arthur shows up in the dialog box,but there's no Arthur in the graveyard.

Hmm...then this must be another sign pointing to BG3...obviously this isn't the last you're gonna see of this guy...and if you don't see him again in BG2 and find out who he is...then there will most probably be a BG3, and somewhere in it you get to meet this guy again.

Cool Image

There's still lot's of "strange" thing remains unsolve in BG2, hopefully all this will be clear in the expansion or BG3!

I've got a question, is Irenicus really dead?

They always put fruity things like that in. There's not necessarily any rhyme or reason to it. BG1 had lots of inane characters running about and it didn't make any sense or difference to the story line - anybody remember Lord Binky the Bufoon? Or the guy who was going to chuck himself off the cliff? Or the Killer Chickens?

OK just clearing that up for the ones who haven't conquered the game yet Image

Yep Irenicus is truly dead. After fighting him in hell and beating him, you get your soul back and come back to life.

But Irenicus has to stay in hell since he lost the fight and lost your soul. I don't know if that knock in the lava either killed him and wiped him from existence, or if he stays alive and has to suffer for all eternity in a bath of lava Image

Either way...yeah he ain't coming back Image

The git never did jump did he?

Irenicus "never coming back"? They always say that. That's why we had to put up with that crummy Alien 4...

Cheers.

You'd think if they had time to create those little scenes then they'd have the time to expand their impact on the story. Otherwise, why waste their time in the first place?

The big teasers!

Yes but the more time spent adding things would mean less money coming in the business and more going out.

Plus they are Teasers.

True. But as I said, why waste their time in the first place?

I guess there are less of these occurances in BG2. Like the chickens with the Beljuril - I thought "woah, watch it! If i remember from BG1 there were KILLER POISONOUS CHICKENS!". I got my best spells ready, donned my best armour, got out all my best arrows and swords. Phew, that was a close one.

But our friend in the tavern is still a perfect example.

Alright let me put it another way.(My reply wasn't the best)So so draws up plans to build car. Plans call for car to have this and that. While car is being made they put in the control panels for this and that. Then they start to put in the stuff that the control panel works. Then the company calls and says the car has to go by so and so day. Now were to my point(i know will i ever shutup)The people building don't have time to finish putting it in,plus they don't have the time to take it out.

If you don't agree with this ,we will agree to disagree because all of this thinking is making my head hurt. Image

Agree.

Obiously the games design industry doesn't follow the old maxim:
