Cameo Appearances in BG *encounter & BG2 spoilers abound!*

Post by Galuf the Dwarf »

Well, I've met alot of characters I recognized from various Forgotten Realms books. I apologize if I don't give enough SPOILER alerts, but here's the list of ones I recognized:

Drizzt Do'Urden (Chapt. 3, SSW of Beregost) - No guess to what stories he's in. ;) Thank goodness for R. A. Salvatore! (Also, the appearance of the entire Companions of the Hall in BG2 made my face brighten)

Elminster (various chapters) - Of course, Ed Greenwood at his finest, IMHO.

Volo (Chapter 3, Nashkel) - I wonder what books he's in, since he's recognized as an associate of sorts with Elminster. He also seems more like a bard than a mage to me.

Cadderly (Chpt. 6, Candelkeep) - Is that THE Cadderly written by R. A. Salvatore?

Any others from popular FR literature?

Hmmm....

I can't speak to FR literature, the only other obvious outside allusion in BG1 is Larry, Darryl & Darryl - a surreal moment, indeed.

BG2 has many more, though, of course. IMAO, "Bondari reloads" is the funniest for all that it's a fairly generic allusion.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Yeah, I remember both of those. *remembers going through BG2: ToB, and ROTFLHAO with the Bondari moment*

Yep, it is the Cadderly (Cadderly Bonaduce of Carradoon, priest of Dyneir etc.). A great character indeed...

Oh yes he is. He has amazing priestly capabilities, yet is highly burdened from the use of them. Well well thought out.

Speaking of well-made characters, why doesn't some major author for the FR series write a good DWARF for a main character? They've got plenty of humans, elves, and half-elfs, but not our favorite bearded folk? Sure, it has to be contracted by TSR and Wizards of the Coast, but wouldn't be something slightly newer for a change?

Anyways, what about Volo? Any clues as to his literary debut, if anything?

(Strangled noises)

Why doesn't anybody write a dwarf for a main character?

Sir, you set yourself up for WAY too much mockery with that one for it to be fair to reply ;)

I'd make fun of your height......if you had any (badda bing!)
