bg2 forging bug with cromwell

Post by globester »

I was just going to Cromwell to forge all the weapon parts i found throughout the game. I was too lazy to identify them, so I just put'm unidentified in my bag of holding.

When at Cromwéll's, I asked him to make my Gesen Bow.
He made it and I asked him to check if I had anything more, then he said he could make Gesen Bow for me if I had the string.

This amazed me. I looked in my bag of holding, and there was the Bow String. But I already had the Gesen Bow.
I looked further and I found that also other unidentified parts of weapons I already had forged together were still in my bag of holding.

I'm now gonna see if I can get multiple equalizers and 2 bows :)

(wrote this down as soon as i found it out)

(i dunno if this has already been found btw :/)

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

I've noticed something similar. The problem is not with the items being unidentified, but with the fact that they are in the bag. It seems that sometimes when an item is being determined to exist, a different search method is used than when it is being removed. So an item in the bag is considered to be in inventory, but when it is being removed, only actual inventory slots are checked.

A similar thing happens if you put Valygar's body in the bag and take him to Tolgeiras. You will be given proper credit for having killed him, (because the item exists in your "inventory") but the body isn't actually removed (since it is not found in the actual slots). This allows you to open the Sphere after having turned his body in.

I'm not sure if this alway works, but I have seen it happen occasionally.

another odd thing, i believe the silver blade was used to forge the equalizer, because it's no longer in my bag of holding, while the equalizer blade is (identified)

Hmm. I've never seen that happen. Are you sure you didn't give it back to the Githyanki, or sell it along the way?
