Great Houses

Post by AlphaOne »

Ok... Please answer me!

Right now I' like to do some great house quests, but I do have some questions:

My character is at level 8. He's sort of a longsword fighter that is really good on alteration and destruction spells. (I'm having a problem on getting mana/magicka though, since all I can raise significantly is willpower). I belong to the fighter and mage guilds. Now, from what I have understood in the game, nobody likes the Great House that is related with mages (I forgot the bloody name, it's the one where you "grow" your fortress). I definately do not want to go to house Hlallu.

So this is my question, will I have any problem with people (their reaction/making enemies is the guilds/etc..) by joining the "great mages house"?
Oh yeah... almost forgot! I would like to join the temple!

Finally, in what city where do I join for the mages house? I already know know the other two!

Sorry for the amount of questions...

The mage aligned great house is called Telvanni. Joining them will not really affect you anymore than joining any other great house. Other than house specific trainers no one really cares much. The guilds/cults don't seem to mind. Of course once you join them most other Telvanni you meet will have a better disposition reaction to you. Joining the temple is not a problem either. The only possible conflict might occur if you have done all the mage quests and become the archmage and have also killed Dagoth Ur, in which case if you didn't previously kill Trebonious he will now give you a final quest to assassinate all the Telvanni councilors. I haven't played that combo of events so I can't be sure if it matters under those circumstances.

You need to go to Sadrith Mora to join the Telvanni. When you get there ask around and you will be pointed in the right direction.

You can always avoid getting any duties from Trebonius. ;) I've recently played a game in which my PC was a member of House Telvanni, as well as the Mages' Guild, Fighters' Guild, Thieves' Guild, Morag Tong, Temple and the Imperial Cult (she was quite busy), and there was pretty much no problem.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
