Getting your rep down to 6 isnt that difficult if you play the game for the first time. If you throw around fireballs and kill an innocent because you dont know some spells hurt friendly/neutrals, its actually quiet easy :D , and you sometimes even won't notice it with all the text going through the message window ;)

@Scayde,
Regarding the romances ;)
It really depends on how you have answered Anomen's dialogues as to whether or not the romance is still on. I am pretty sure that unless you have been really mean to him he will still want to romance your PC if he fails his test, and apparently the CN Anomen is much randier than the LG Anomen :D

If you have upset him you can use the CLUA Console to reset the romance variables and thus recommence the relationship. I don't remember how to do that but I am sure there are numerous people around here who would be able to help :)

Also, the Sola mod, unlike Kelsey, is set up so that you can have multiple romances without consequence.... :D ;)

*hug*
have fun ;)

I honestly do see where you are coming from :)

But from a certain role-playing perspective, cheating on Anomen does have a particular logic to it ;)

Imagine I am playing a chaotic neutral thief who has a certain disregard for more... mainstream... values...
Well there she is... with apparently no eligible male in her 'sword-sites' ..... But wait... what about that knight over in the corner of the Copper Coronet.... Being an observant thief, she notices the gleam in Anomen's eye as she sashays up to him dressed in her black leather outfit....

But... *sigh* it is apparent on speaking to him.... that Anomen is not really her type.... Nonetheless, she is in need of a decent fighter who will also heal her wounds, so she decides to take him on. As time goes on, Anomen's conceit and constant need for reassurance and hand-holding become decidedly annoying... However, she is.... human..... and Anomen does possess certain.... desirable attributes... So, she decides to humour him.... in order to satisfy her needs.

Hmmm.... all goes as well as could be expected, and after countless battles the party finally ends up in the Underdark... where she ultimately meets a mysterious and exciting Drow.... The said Drow eventually joins the party .... and oooh... she can't help but feel a tingle of excitement as their eyes meet over the bloodied remains of orcs, spiders or dragons...

Of course... she is not completely heartless... and she knows how much Anomen cares about her... so she finds herself in something of a conundrum....

She decides to try both having her cake and eating it too...

Naturally... in such a situation, it would be very difficult to sneak off for a bit of playtime in the bushes... but hey... she's creative.... I can see it now...

Thief: "Anomen dearest... Solaufein wants to show me his magical sword.... so we are off to find some orcs so that he can demonstrate his prowess....

And Jan sweetie, I'm sure that while I'm gone Anomen would just love to hear that nice, long story you told me the other day... about the time your Great Aunt Bumchuckles wanted to switch from turnip cultivation to growing carrots..."

Anomen: *puts on whiny voice* "But why can't you wait until tomorrow... it's getting dark.... and you saw Solaufein in action earlier today... And you know I don't want to hear yet another of that foolish gnome's nonsensical stories...."

Jan: *to Anomen, with a knowing, lascivious grin* "You know... the petulant tone to your voice reminds me of the time that, Horatio Thundercrunch, my second cousin twice-removed..."

Err... sorry for the spam.. I got a bit carried away there... ;)

@DW:..OMG....that was priceless.....but in all honesty, rather right on the money :D
Hmmm..Sola does sound interesting. More and more I am thinking that this is where things are going to get interesting :D ;)

re: Edwin and the CLUA commands. I have pulled that thread up and am going to try to teach myself how to use them ..*wish me luck* ;)

@Von: I have already sided with Bohdi, she beat the other guys price. I knew when I did it there would be fall out...she is a vampire. (I am assuming she will double cross me eventually) I hoped that by the time she crosses me, I will be strong enough to take her out :)

Update:...I have left Jan while I try to help his niece. Keldorn flew the coup after he visited his family. He said he would meet me at the temple, but I have been there three times in two days and still he hasn't shown.

@Aubry:...No, he doesn't know about Bohdi. I did not see an option to discuss this with him. :)

I picked up Viconia for the trip to find the "Hidden". I will decide rather to keep her or Jan after I see how well she plays in the next few battles. :)

Thanks everybody..Keep the suggestions coming :D

I think the same can happen if you have lowered the game's difficulty level and cast Magic Missiles: some will strike innocent people, if the fight is in town, and your reputation will suffer a great deal.

No, there is no discussion option about that, and I didn't mean it literally. Since you have sided with Bodhi, you will be running some errands for her, and your party will have to visit the Graveyard and her lair. It's one of those visits that Keldorn will probably leave.

As for Keldorn and his wish of spending some time with his wife, the best option is to give him one, single day, and go pick him up from his estate. I recall having problems with the rest of the options.

Is there some reason it must be either/or? Their skills are unalike, and both are extremely valuable to a party. I'm not suggesting by any means that you must include a cleric, a thief, or a mage; but since this is your first run-through, having some representation of all three is probably wise.

Jan is the best thief in the game, a good second string mage (who can be greatly improved in ToB), and a long range fighter with a special attack that's surprisingly effective against even powerful enemies. The advantages of Anomen or Viconia can be argued back and forth (I prefer Viconia), but having a cleric in your party means natural aid and spells at turning undead, and resurrection and restoration spells without paying at a temple.

Give a thought to keeping both characters for your first game. You can always try to make things harder for yourself next time around, eliminating major professions that are normally considered essential in fantasy RPGs. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Hehe, I thought the same when I started my current game, my Party consists of

Myself (Bard)
Mazzy (SKd to Archer)
Viconia
Imoen
Cernd (SKd to Totemic Duid)

not a really strong party (no tank, no really good thief, no high level spells until relatively late in the game), but when they all reached mid- level, the game became so easy it stops being funny. Although I have yet to face Improved Yaga Shura/Sendai/Abazigal/Balthasar
:D

@fable:..Thanks for the tip. I suppose I was worried about muscle. Maybe it will be enought with just me and Korgan since Jahiera is a pretty decent fighter. :)

@Aubrey:...I found Keldorn, but knowing now that he is probably going to cut out anyway, and Anomen tries to kill him every other day, I have decided to leave him for now, and just return when I am going to need a paladin for something. At which time I will trade Anomen and him out just for that specific task, then switch back when I need a cleric :)

Scayde,

Since you lean towards forming an evil party, I don't think Keldorn would fit well in it; so, it is wise decision to leave him out. You can always get him when you will decide to begin a new game and try some of the other NPCs.

For me, Keldorn is a nice character for a "good" party.
His low dexterity can be fixed if you equip him with the proper gauntlets, and his "True Sight" special ability is one I have appreciated greatly since it has saved my party's a** in many occassions. He can use one of the powerful two-handed weapons in the game, which gives 50% magic resistance, and is used only by Good characters. But there is an Item-Upgrade pack you can download later (or, now, if you wish), for playing ToB, and having the sword being upgraded so as to be used by an evil ToB character as well. BTW, this character is the best fighter in my opinion.

Have fun!

@Aubrey: I am not really sure my party is evil. My character is Chaotic Neutral, and the party tends to swing out from there. Currently I have:

Myself:......Chaotic Neutral
Jaheira:.....True Neutral
Korgan:.....Chaotic Evil
Nalia:.........Chaotic Good
Anomen:....Chaotic Neutal

Sidebar:
Keldorn:.....Lawful Good
Viconia:......Chaotic Evil
Jan:............Chaotic Neutral ?

I would tend to think that they are...well..Chaotic :D

Right now I am trying to take out Kangax...

so far after 10 hours we are still in a stalemate :o

@ Scayde:

No, your party is not evil, but as I said in my previous posts, you seem to like an evil party.

Kangaxx: Beating him needs some planning ahead, he is a powerful Lich -- at least that's what I thought when I had played the game first time. If you have a low level party, you might find it difficult.

Consider using a scroll of Protection from Magic for defense on Korgan, and send him to fight Kangaxx. Nalia can use her Melf's Minute Meteors to hit him from afar. Try to protect the rest of your party from his Imprisonment spells by setting them near the stairs, out of his view. Kangaxx is quite sensitive to Sunray (either the priest spell or Daystar's ability), and if you have done the Planar Sphere quest, you will find out that the Ring of Ram can do him a good amount of damage, too. Whatever you do, don't allow him to imprison any of your party members, especially your pc character -- that will mean game over. Overall, you will need a fairly high level party, around 15 or so.

You can always look at GameBanshee's Strategies section for more input.
Good luck.

The last few times I've played, Kangaxx the Demilich was very easy to kill. I just sent in a Berserker (like Korgan) wielding the upgraded Mace of Disruption +2 (did you get the illithium ore?) and went berserk. Kangaxx was insta-killed pretty quickly.

If Korgan is not proficient with maces, he will be penalized, but you can make up for the penalty with spells like Bless or a potion of giant strength. If you use a Scroll of Protection from Undead, wait until the last minute to use it, because it will prevent Kangaxx the Lich from talking to you and he won't do what he's supposed to do if you use it before the dialogue is over. The Protection from Magic scroll will work, but there are only two of those in the game, so it would be helpful to figure out a way to use those scrolls more than once. For example, Vhaillor's Helm lets you cast Simulacrum, and that's a good way to "recycle" limited items. Just put the scroll in Korgan's quick-slot, cast Simulacrum, and let the double go to work.

If you'd rather use a more challenging strategy to defeat Kangaxx, try hurting him with items and spells that do fire damage--he's susceptible to that, even though he's immune or resistant to almost everything else.

Good luck!

@ VonDondu:

Have you played Weimer's Improved Liches and Kangaxx? (Someone else has worked on this, I believe, but the file is on Weimer's mods web page.)

What do you mean, you lost Korgan? Did Kangaxx imprison him? Or, he just died in the battle?

Kangaxx imprisoned him....now I have to find some sort of scroll that will hopefully get him out. I am on the process of researching that now.

To undo an Imprisonment spell, you need to cast the spell called Freedom. I know a place where you can buy a scroll of Freedom in Chapter Five, but if you can't find one before then, you won't be able to get Korgan back until Chapter Six. I hope you can find one before then.

For me that was the toughest battle of the entire game. Though the twisted rune is challenging too ;) But worth it... you get a very nice staff out of the deal... ;)
