About stats above 19 *minor NPC spoilers*
So is it true that a Dwarf who upgrades from 19 Con to 20 with receive regeneration? I've heard that Kagain has such SECRETLY.
What about any other stats? Anything special?

Any character with Constitution of 20 or higher will regenerate hit points. I can't remember where I learned about that, but I didn't think it was a "secret". If you can't find it in the Baldur's Gate manual, I'm sure you can still find it in a Dungeons & Dragons manual.
By the way, the Baldur's Gate manual is wrong about certain things. For example, the manual says that Wisdom can give your character saving throw bonuses, but that feature was never actually implemented in the game. Also, all characters have a 100% resurrection survival chance no matter what their Constitution is (at least, that's the way things are in BG2: Shadows of Amn).
I wouldn't call the following things "secrets", but you might not know about them until you meet the NPCs in question. Coran has Dexterity of 20 and three proficiency points in Bows, so he makes a great archer. Edwin has a magical amulet that lets him cast more spells per level than an ordinary Mage. Shar-Teel can be dual-classed to a Thief, and Imoen can be dual-classed to a Mage (regular or Specialist). Alora's rabbit foot gives her a +1 Luck bonus. And of course, Quayle is very smart, and Tiax rules all.

Yeah, I kinda knew all you mentioned about the NPCs (except for Shar-Teel).
Interesting that you mentioned about the saving throw thing. I hardly noticed.
But to think that any amount of Charisma above 18 in both games only influences the cost of items in shops. I could just imagine.
PC: "Stop, thieves!!!"
Bandit: *stops in his tracks* "Um, you said something?"
PC: "Come back with that gold!!!"
Bandit: Ummmm... okay! Just don't hurt me!
PC: "Good, now begone!!!"

Let's see. 20 strength is considered "Stone Giant Strength", 21 is for a Frost Giant, 22 is for Fire Giant, 23 is for Cloud Giant, and 24 is for Storm Giant. If so, then what is 25 strength? Is it godly strength?
I just said Dwarves because they can naturally have up to 19 Con, and could achieve 20 with one of the magic tomes in BG1.

You know, if only the physical state of your char's paper doll could show changes according to your stats. For instance greater Strength makes it appear more muscular, high Con making him look like it's standing very hardy (i.e.: shoulders less slumped, appearing more vigorous), and higher Dex makes the figure appear more limber (not so encumbered by body mass).
I could just imagine the Paladin I beat BG with last month after achieving 19 Str and Con, and 17 Dex! He'd probably make both Sarevok and Arnold Schwartzenaeger(sp?) run for cover! He'd probably be able to crush empty ale kegs on his head without getting a splinter!
*thinks of a not-so dexterous male halfling have his pot gut come in contact with face, chuckles*

Well, I wonder...
How well would a Gnome Cleric Illusionist be with 20 to both Int and Wis? Would that give him a slew of spells at the EXP cap of the game? I've been interested in taking one through and into BG2. I could just see one wielding the Flail of Ages, casting enough spells to make one's head spin!

I played a Cleric/Illisionist once with both the ring of wizardry and holiness, and I had more spells than I knew what to do with by the end of the game. That was one of my solo efforts, and he was easily one of my favorites.

Gnomes get a -1 penalty in wisdom, so the best your pc can get is 19 in wisdom (because you can get two tomes of wisdom). Which is still great, of course.

Yeah. The third is in Durlag's Tower if you have TotSC. Don't want to disclose the floor or whatever else in case you haven't gotten there yet.

It's on the second floor up, which looks like Mekrath's Tower (Temple District Sewers, where you rescue H'aer-Dalis)(can't spell that well right now since it's late and I'm bone tired from work) in BG2. It'll be in this NW room that looks like where you get the portal gem in the sequel. You can't miss it.

Trust me, by BG2, 20 Wis may just as well be enough. If you were to have 25 (2nd Edition D&D maximum, right?), you'd probably have more 1st to 3rd level spells than you could hope to use. Try to balance your stats as best as possible.
I do have a Druid as a character file who has stats like this
16 Str
10 Dex
16 Con
10 Int
18 Wis
18 Cha
Sure, no Dex enhancement to Armor Class, but that may assure the possibilities of max hit points and some decent fighting capabilities. What are the stats for your Druid? I was just wondering, not to compete or disvalue. I'm just curious.

This is after using all the tomes. Maybe I should've rerolled for higher intelligence, just for role-playing purposes but powerwise a druid doesn't need smarts.
Then again, he'll be abit vulnerable to mindflayers when he gets to BG2.
