He will appear to fight the druid. so you do not need him in your party.

His side quest is pretty simple and offers a good chunk of exp. When combined with the Sculpture(sp) quest from the Temple of Helm, you can cut down on your travel time as both quests take place in the same areas. :D :D

After his side quest he leaves and your free to pickup someone else.

Ah, yes, good ol' Cernd. I took him along on the Druid Grove quest, turned him into a werewolf, and watched while Faldorn killed him with one hand tied behind her back. Fortunately Jaheira then stepped in and killed Faldorn.
Cernd seems utterly useless. I can see no reason for using him at all except to get the points for his personal (son) quest.

His son quest gets you good exp before he disappears for a while.

As far as Faldorn is concerned Jaheira is the only one up to the task. As far as the druid grove is concerned, as a true druid, he will be level 14 (I think is the required level) before Jaheira.

However, I think the stronghold quests etc are only open to the Protagonist.

Personally I liked Cernd, but I did the Son thing, got the points then followed with Jaheira and the Harper Quest....

to avoid getting the piss beaten out of you by faldorn, simply cast improved invisibility on the druid u use before the fight. Always works.

Not sure if you guys know this but even though Cernd (or Jaheira) goes to fight Faldorn with all their equipment stripped from them, you can still pass on equipment to them during the fight. I really had a difficult time fighting Faldorn before I found this out. Now I just pass on better weapons and healing potions to Cernd (or Jaheira) when they're in the pit. (Not very noble I guess, but heck, it works! probably a bug!)

Hey, Lorenoth that's what I usually do, she just stands there and does nothing, don't know if its a bug or she just has noway of dispelling the illusion, anyway very easy kill once you do that.

Which I always do :D

She deserves it anyway :D
